Finally saw this car in person and I must say "killer kustom" work. Keep it up Dick.

I like repetition of design. This hood treatment echoes the quarter trim.

Can't wait to see how the 302 Jimmy scoots this one down the road. At the last base my dad was stationed when I was still living at home there was an old Master Sgt. that had a 302 GMC in a plain Jane '55 2dr. He put the hurt on many Yblocks and SBC's. He had the combination worked out gearing wise (a close ratio 3spd Corvette Trans with a home brewed floor shift, a posi rear (don't know the ratio) turning a set Atlas Bucron tires that would jump out of the hole and the competition just never seemed to catch up. A mismatched dual exhaust (two different kinds of mufflers) made it sound at idle like you could beat it on foot just added to the bait.

This is the top part to a 1956 Buick bumper. Now it's going to be my grill bar.

I had to pinch it in the center to get a peak and then again on the ends to bring them back in line.

I think the front bumper is going to need pushed back a bit.

Ryno, I'm going to come down for a day trip on Saturday. I need to keep kicking butt to get this Chevy on the road in a week.

I tried the three bumpers I had to choose from. The stock 54, a 56 Chevy or a 53 Ford. I didn't like any of them. After spending a couple hours flashing thru a 1,000 Chevy customs. Thanks Rick Hoving. I noticed that most all of them had bumpers. Examples of ones without are hard to find, so.... This is a day in the life of my 54 Bel Air.

Roughed in the other corner of the roll pan. Now it's back to tack and grind.

This hood gave up a cool roll pan.

Been too long since I looked at your thread, gotta say I really like it. You got a good eye, making mods that look great, but are not like something that's been done a lot.

Just saw a 56 Buick rear bumper at an auction in Hastings NE yesterday, and the top part caught my eye as 'having possibilities'. Then saw your thread using it on your BelAir. Great minds think alike??

    Bill

PS Did anyone notice how he sneeked in a 56 Ford trim piece into the Bel Air quarter cove? NIIICE!

I passed it on to a club brother who had need of it. It was a repop.

It looks great, but have you tried to turn the wheels?

Yes the wheels and tires turn and clear, even under full compression.

Yeah, diggin this alot. Love my 54 stock(ish) but the work you are doing here fits so good, that front end in particular. Just a question, how did you set up the slave cylinder on your clutch fork? We used your idea for the master cylinder (although using a land rover one cos I'm in the UK) but the slave mounted on the bell housing fouls on the body mount. This is on a 350 with a TKO600 behind it though. In the process of seeing what can be clearanced but might need to go to a hydraulic T/O bearing (and more f**king cash). Cheers anyway and keep doing what you're doing!!

  30. Really nice work there. Different look with the roll pan. Looks like something from back in the day. Excellent.
