It was nice and dry there last year after the rain. Good option if "the bend" is soupy or you wanna' be close to town.

We're gonna make it but not rolling in the '46.
Going to do a little off of the road traveling in the Toyota on the way if all goes well.

A friend of mine was passing through the area last week, he drove to the end of the blacktop, and said there was at least 1 foot of water on the salt! Lets hope it gets dried out.

This is the salt repot from the SCTA-BNI website. It's pretty common for water to pool at the end of the road, but the starting line is a couple miles away so it usually dries first.

Salt Report - July 16 - As of early this evening the courses were dry and the only puddle was at the end of the road. The rain of 4 days ago has all but dried up. Courses still look good. Another storm cell went through later this evening. Temperatures are in the upper 90s for the next week. Shouldn't be a problem.

  9. We're in.. Not taking the Bonneville Bathtub up this year, giving the ol girl a rest. Will be cruisin roudn in my blue 59 chevy wagon though and campin at the bend, stop by and say hi. Lookin forward to seeing some good runs, catchin up with familiar faces, and catchin up with a couple of mates from Perth!

  10. From all accounts the salt should be perfect this year! Will we see a 400?

I'm going to Speed Week for my first time this year, going to bring my two young boys, 6 & 4 years old. They will likely only last a few hours on the salt but were gonna go anyways and enjoy some "Guys" time away from the girls in the house. Look forward to seeing these cars I enjoy reading about on the HAMB in person.

My full time job doesn't start til August now so I guess I will be making a last minute run to the salt again this year. Unfortunately won't get to stay too long as the wife and son are coming too. Should be there for Friday evening, Saturday, Sunday and maybe Monday though.

  17. Spoke to Davo today. He said you spoke highly of me. ;)

Had a look at the Flower of Scotland website. Very cool. My wife's grandfather was from Scotland. :)

  21. Father/Son trip #3 this year. Pops is rolling from VT with The Boners and I'm flying with The Fuckers. Totally stoked to have lots of salt-virgin SFCC brothers there this year. This will be the second season Dad is one of the drivers of The Dark Side car.

Been out there on and off since '93 or so.
    Raced '05, '06, '07. Spectated since.
Back to racing this year. Happy about that.
    Staying at the bend.
Pitting with LSR So-Cal (next to Jim Dunn's orange Detroit Diesel Toyota).

I'll be dropping by your pits for sure. Not sure if Norm told you, but I was hoping to help out for a day. :)
