Sounds good, Koop 13. My 59 will probably be there only on Saturday, though.

59bones, It'll be good to see your wagon in the show. There probably won't be too many 59 Chevys there. I'll be pitting with my older brother, (black and white 57 Chevy Sport Sedan), and my nephew, (blue and white 55 Chevy). The black 55 will be there, too.

Heading over to the strip this afternoon to get my 59 through tech, and then go to Sam's Drive-In.

It was amazing watching some of these cars pulling in with slicks and open headers at the drive in.. Can't wait till tomorrow and watch some racing and check out the rest of the cars.

Already over 115 drag cars on Friday , and there's no racing until tomorrow. If you weren't sure about coming this year you have no idea what your missing. Where else can you run a full on drag car right through town with the cops just passing through like its normal. You owe it to yourself to come. Once your here you won't ever miss it again.

  5. ...just got home from 3 great days at this year's Meltdown Drags. The Tin Butchers
Rod Club had the pleasure of helping with the swapmeet this year; everything seemed to go well and we'd gladly help out again.
We all had a great time at this, the best Meltdown yet. Great job by everyone involved. This is by far one of my favorite events of the summer.
...here's a shot I took early today before the action started of my 37...even tho I didn't race it.

  6. Great weekend guys. I bent half my pushrods the first pass yesterday so I didn't get any racing in, but it was a fun weekend. Nothing like watching that FED make a 6.52 pass and I lost count on all the willys gassers. ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1374445028.287422.jpg . Stopped to take a couple interesting shots on the way out I town
We did well in your swap meet. I sold a lot of stuff and will be back to vend again. This is by far the most fun you can have at a racetrack!

Please come to the Symco Shakedown. It's only $10! Aug 9-10, 2013.

Thanks for putting on a great show, well worth the drive. Had a few small issues but still made some decent runs with the new engine.

Hey Rusty1, I liked the picture you had of your '37 with the Rockford Dragway tower behind it also awesome history. My whole family had a great time. The track owner BJ and a lot of other people really worked hard to make sure this event was a success. My wife watched him scrape rubber off the track by hand at 8:30 Saturday evening. I'm sure he was tired but he always was smiling.

Hey, thanks, ...but that was not my car; I just tried to emilate that car with my 37. That car belongs to a guy I know and I'm told he still owns it, but never gets it out. That photo was shot in 1965....I had the photo autographed today by the great track announcer Ron Leek; whom I've enjoyed listening to at Byron since about 1964. Ron knows the owner and the car and has tried to get him get it back on the road.
As a sidenote, BJ, the track owner came over to my car to personally thank me and our club for helping out with the Meltdown event.
... now that's real appreciation! ...he saw the photo and had to take a photo of it for himself.

Awesome show! Missed it last year, when I ran into the pics from last year my jaw hit the floor and I knew I had to go. The journey was long but well worth it. I'll definitely be back next year, maybe it won't be quiet so hot!!! Great show, thanks a lot to the guys that make this happen every year, you did a great job

Even though I had a flat on my tow vehicle on the way home, it still could not put a damper on a great weekend. Watching all the great cars run was a real treat, as well as making new friends. The staff and all of the personnel that put on the event get an A+.-Jim
