Still needs a heck of a clean. but I have swept, rinsed and vacuumed a good square mile 'O pile of Panhandle dirt out of her.
Needed pans.. got those and just a bunch of TLC.......... can hardly wait to begin.

    Kinda side story here...
I ran the numbers on the vin...... car was a 292/Ford-o-matic run of the mill nothing special unit.Born at the Dallas plant in 57 and was last driven in 71.
The Dallas plant closed in 71.

Kinda neat..kinda strange... makes for good bench racing.
Anyhow....I like this 50's type of car.... not much fabrication involved.but room for tons of potential .....
the fellas over at 57ford.com have been very helpful....great site.
These shorter, smaller 57's are getting harder and harder to find.St.Nicks Thread was inspirational.

Plans are for 406 4-speed,beefed rear and front suspension..but a stock outside and interior look.
Not worried about the look at this point... just want to concentrate on the mechanicals at this point.

    thanks fellas!

  12. You won't be alone there. I'm a few years into mine with paint done, Engine done, Trans done, Rear axle done, Chrome & S.S. done. I like big surprises in unsuspecting packages. Just wish I could get back on track and get some of it put together. Good luck on yours and keep us posted on progress.

Sounds awesome... love to see some pics.

3x2 bbl..... but a factory 2x4 is attractive.

Of course all black first came to mind... but the dealer option Black n White is growing on me....
The Widow Maker might just wear her factory clothes.:)

  18. black and white would be cool but what about a suggestion since your going with the widowmaker theme how about taking the custom 300 trim off and just running the regular custom side trim

or would that be too close to the 57 chevy black widow?

A guy I ran with in high school(1968) had a blue and white 57 Ford like that that his uncle gave him. It was rusty as over 10 years of Ohio winter salt could make it with a hole the size of a soft ball in the side of the Y-block. He bought a totaled Ohio State 427 Ford patrol car and we put the whole drivetrain in the 57, kind of a crude instalation as I remember, but it stayed together. Had LOTS of fun with it on the street until we got foundout! Them was the days my friends!!

  20. I don't know what category I fall into, but I am absolutely in love with the way your Ford looks. The faded paint is just awesome. If my 55 Chevy would have had faded paint on it like your Ford, I would have just left my Bow Tie alone. Really cool car man. :D

  27. I love these tudor sedans! Your plans sound right up my alley. I can just see it; black and white, dog-dish caps with blackwalls and black or white wheels. Maybe some header dumps just barely visible poking out behind the front wheels. Not too loud on the exhaust so the 406 solids can be heard clacking away. Just me thinking out loud here.
    Good luck with this project..........

  28. That's a good lookin old Ford Jeff,I love the black and off white scheme myself...Be sure and use the FE dual quads and ford breather and valve covers offered on the hi po stuff back then,

not a Ford guy myself but there was never a more beautiful engine than those were...
A local kid had all tha on a 427 in a 55 ford sedan back in the day with four speed.....king of the hill....good luck on this man!
