Cool tread that needs a bump. Did a little research and found that the 1960s building that housed Karl Orr's shop is still in existence. Located at 17670 Sierra Highway, Mint Canyon, CA and it is now a pest control business. You can see the architecture is basically unchanged from the late-1960s photo with the '55 Chevy and Mr. Orr. A roof has since been installed between the Orr building and the building to the left/south. Then: Today:
Man, great thread, memories of back in the day. we used to go to Joey Cornelski's Ulster Automotive in the early 60s, Kingston, NY. And when I went to auto tech school in Morrisville, we'd go to Syracuse and browse the used speed part shelves at Auto Finishers.
What a killer thread. I grew up in the wrong era. Anyways, here's some photos of Goodies Speed Shop in California. This is the San Jose shop on Lincoln Avenue with the 2 Dodge A100 vans and Jim Miraglia's 65 El Camino. This is the first Goodies van, their Corvair van. This is the Goodies dragster in the San Jose shop. This is the Goodies shop in my hometown of Salinas. It was at 523 South Main Street. It opened in April of 66 and was run by Jim Miraglia, the guy who owned the 65 Chevelle in the photo and the first photo, til '67 then by Dennis Varni until they closed in 71. The 29 roadster in the middle is owned by Andy Southard, Jr, another Salinas native. I can't remember, did you used to hang out here @47plymouthgasser ?
Is Tognotti's still open...I was out in Sacramento years ago and went by there....it was on a Sunday I think...they were closed...didn't get to go in
