Should I keep these parts

I was wondering what to do with parts off my model-a most people say don't sell any of it but if I am not going to use it that would free up some money like wheels tranny steering column and box also have the motor that came in it the motor does not run. The serial number on the block and the title are the same I'm sure that matters. Thanks for any input

 

Sort out the motor/title thing first & foremost. Check with your state's DMV and get your car titled.

As for the rest of the parts, offer them over on the Ford Barn and/or CL, local classic car clubs, etc.

 

Sell them!!

I think the same way should I sale it to let someone finish their project. Then I ask myself is if I do sale the parts will I see ever see this part again if I ever need it. There are some parts for my car I could not find for months and when I did find one two others showed up so now I have 3 parts that are exactly the same. Now I tell myself I need to keep them all just in case someone hits my car or a part breaks I will have a replacement. I just hope I don’t become a hoarder.

 

Before you let go of the engine see if your DMV will put an ID tag on the door. The engine is your proof that the car is really the one on the paperwork.

Keep the motor; if it turns, pickle it (oil down the spark plug holes). Sell the rest. Most of it isn't worth a whole lot, but somebody out there can probably use it.

 

Sell it all and get some folding money. Mechanical A parts are everywhere.

 

Yep it's probably prudent thinking to hang on to the engine until after you go through the process with the dmv. Unless it is in great shape and worth big bux I'd stick the block back under the bench or in the shed rather than have someone else try to title a Model A using the number off the block but I'd sell the other left overs off the car that I wasn't going to use in a heartbeat.

You could ask the dmv inspector about grinding the number off the block before selling it though. Anything so someone else couldn't use that number.

for the handling, storage and safe
disposal of Model A Ford cars and
all related parts. (My special EPA
licences for handling, storage and
safe disposal of all '32, '33 and '34
Ford cars and parts - as well as for
'37 through '42 Willys coupes, too -
is pending and I'm just waiting for
those licences to arrive in the mail!)
You should send all your unneeded
Model A parts to me, right away - as
soon as possible - shipping pre-paid
of course - for safe disposal. Otherwise,
armed federal agents, (maybe even the
dreaded "Men In Black" even!!) will
show up at your door and lay siege
to your property!!! : You don't
want that, do you???!!

Keep anything that has the VIN on it. I kept the block that came with my Model A roadster. Had it boiled to make it nice and clean, painted it battleship gray and put it under the bench. Good luck with your project.

 

I have a 4 spots at Charlotte Auto Fair... I sold alot of model A stuff there last year... If you want me to help you sell it let me know... That goes for any other hambers...
