Who Remembers CARtoons..?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by wingnutz, Dec 23, 2003.

  1. Hit a fleamarket on my way home today. Picked up a dozen or so copies of CARtoons, BIKEtoons, and DRAGtoons, along with about twenty or so issues of Hot Rod from 58=59, and a little page Rod & Custom, all for twenty bucks. Made my day!

dennis.JPG I own an original comic panel that Dennis Ellefson drew of Big Daddy Roth. I don't know if it ever appeared in any of the mags though. I framed it and it hangs proudly in my home.

I don't know if any of it is true, don't hold me to anything. If you do a search on Shawn Kerri it's claimed that she did a did a Houdini and disappeared years ago. As of a few years ago she was reported living in Cali. Supposedly she had a head injury from falling down some stairs and it had affected her memory.
I still have all mine from when I was a kid. When my step-son got older he found them and thought that they were the greatest. All of mine still have the iron-on sill there. Maybe it's time to try one out.

I got a couple issues from my grandparents' attic, from late '69. (I was born roughly 15 years after they were printed) I think my favorite is a couple guys cruising to get something to eat, they get to the drive in and everyone there has a novelty-gasser '55 chev and the carhops are on stilts:D

  10. Wow... just heard a conversation about him today so I dug up this thread.

I'll have to check the "webituary"!(TM)

  11. CARtoons was a great magazine. I still have my stack and they still have all of the iron ons too.

CARtoons was THE magazine, I think it may have influenced me in a small way?

Not quite magazine quality but fun to do none-the-less!
