Stump the HAMB can anybody ID this 60's Sports car

A buddy of mine and I are trying to ID this car. I know its a bad pic but I thought I'd give it a try here. So what say you?

 

a apline sunbeam

nope not a sunbeam not enough b area behind the door , and I know its not a MGB as the headlights are too far forward and the there is no recess for the door handle ( used to own one a 62 )

 

im thinking alfa romeo

 

Looks like a Lancia or maybe an Alfa

 

I wish I had a better picture. At first glance that's what I thought too, (sunbeam) but its bigger. Look at the space between the rear wheel opening and the door.

 

Looks Italian, maybe Fiat.

 

I was gonna say..."Get Smart, you can't stump the Hamb.", 'cause at first I thought it's an Alpine.

But wait...I don't think it is.

Looks like a cross between an Alpine, Datsun B2000 & '57 T-Bird.

I don't see a vent window on the sample, The Alfa has one.

 

Just opened this and spotted it right off the bat. I swear.

 

Close. It's an Alfa Romeo 2000 Touring Spyder.

Built by the coachbuilder Touring from 1958-1961. The six cylinder 2600 Spyder didn't have the vents on the front fender or the twin scoops on the hood.

I'm thinkin Giulietta because of the door line at the back of the doors. Spyder is straight, Giulietta is slanted like the original; pic.

 

The 2000 and 2600 Spyders are big 4-seaters that are more grand tourers than sports cars.

The two-seater Giulietta is a Pininfarina design.

 

Yep, the 2600's were an Italian ( E type ) XKE, with six cylinder hemi head engines. These were much larger than the Giuliettas, but began to rot 'bout as fast !

Guiletta Spyder. I had one, a major POS. four cyl twin overhead cams. Timing spec was at 6000rpm. Leaning over engine was exciting
