Why are there more neat kustoms overseas than here in the midwest?

 

I don't know Toad. I've always thought that the overseas guys are more in love with the "pure" old style more than the guys here. Hard to put into words what I mean, but I'll try.

Alot of the guys over here are trying to keep patina finishes and stuff like that alive. Where the guys overseas are trying to reproduce cars from a bygone era that look like they are from that time. Almost like time stopped and the cars stayed in that time frame until now. Not cars that were built a long time ago and have aged to a tired look of disrepair. All new underneath and mechanically, but old and tired on top.

I hope that was understandable. I'm definitely no writer (lol)..........E

I too have always felt that guys in many European countries and Japan etc are doing "better" jobs than many of their N. American counterparts. Not trying to slight anyone building some real gnarly customs and rods over on our side of the water, but those boys overseas know what's up.

They take "period correct" seriously and considering how hard it is for many of them to even get a car to start with, they knock it out of the park.

I love 1941 Mercury's done as early customs. Yours looks to head the right way.
The details on the set in license plates and bumper guard mounted taillights.... perfect.

Now that`s one great looking custom! Are those taillight lenses self made?They look like Harley beehives but can`t really tell...other than that they look great.Any plans for the top?

 

Thanks Rik , Sledge,I made the lens, working on the window frames, need to find a wood header for the top then I will stat on the top The top will be done in flat bar stock and chicken wire just like in 1946.

 

my tail dragger 50 shoebox in the process as we speak of finishing......tail draggers = pain in the ass changing a tire haha but look awesome!

 

it's really refreshing to see a tail dragger that really drag his tail, is from the correct years and more than everything : static dropped
