I think one would look cool but I can't find any pictures of one so I was wondering if anyone has seen one and might have some pics of one.

People looked for smaller lighter cars to race generally.

Actually, in all the times I ever went to the drags, I don't recall ever seeing one as a stocker or modified production, let alone a gasser. Not saying it never happened, but they surely weren't common.

Have you ever seen Thelma and Louise? What they don't show you is the crater that tank left in the bottom of the canyon... I love 'em, but they're a bit, um, a lot too heavy to race

Don't have a pic of it but there was one ,a 66 that raced C/G at Bako a few years back, big assed 460 and ran the 9s, . The owner passed and it sold pretty cheap as I recall. It was heavy !

Thanks for the info guys. I should have omitted 1960 because it was the pointed nose that I thought would look cool in the air and I like the fins on the 61as well. Just trying to do something different but will move away from this idea.

It would look cool. Don't let the masses knock down your dreams, just might not be the most competitive racer

id do it, a good amount of them had big blocks. make it an "XXL" gasser or just a drag car. would be fitting for the era

I've seen some Squarebird ('58-'60) stock car racers and replicas. And I'm pretty sure people are using them as demolition derby cars to this day, but no drag cars.

Just for the fun of it I just went and Bing searched "1962 Thunderbird Gasser" and saw just about every other car under the sun built as a gasser but a Thunderbird.

you will create a freak if you build a gasser from a T'bird of that era.

good luck selling it in the future.

there are so many "different" cars that would be better suited to your gasser build

  21. How about a squarebird gasser? Looks like a 60.
