33 Ford body restoration.

I have been asked several times about the car in my avatar so I finally got round to sorting out some photos of the work I did on it.



The work was done for a customer. It was quite a while ago and I can't find any photos of the before at the moment. It had all the normal rot around the bottom but it must have spent some time upside down with the side in the photo above being the lowest point because the panels had all rotted from the inside including the top of the rear quarter, the roof and the top of the door skin. I made every external panel in this photo the only original part of the skin in this photo being the yellow area of the door window opening and the rear screen surround/ roof area above it but even that had to have quite a bit of work done to straighten it out.



I have some more photos I will post when I have time and I will try to find some build photos.

Thanks to everyone! I have been doing this for a long time, more than thirty years. I don't get to work on Rods all that often but it was hot rods that got me into this type of work.

this is a shot I found of the rot on the inside of the doorskin at the top as I said I think the car must have spent some time upside down, the panels were rotted from the inside and not the outside. Note the plugs of weld done by a previous repairer to repair the rot.



Another shot of the door showing the patch panel made and fitted (overlapped) by a previous 'professional' repairer in the UK.

As I showed in the video I posted earlier in the thread all this was replaced with panels I hand made.

Here is a close up shot of the new door skin I made, the side window frame is new on this side as well (apart from the yellow section) the new rear quarter is visible too.



The main skin was made in two pieces joined just above the bead and the widow surround was made from another two sections.

Rather than metal-shaping, I would call this metal-sculpturing. Your matching door contours are phenomenal. Well done!
