I think the same clown built my Plymouth in the 80's.

    Nice transformation, very well done.

I don't want to hijack your thread, but can I ask how you removed the striping?

I have heard a number of methods like easyoff, some thinners - I have been a bit gunshy on this.

As you can see, it is past due!

I wet sanded it with 1500 and 2000, then buffed it. I was going to try easy off, but I just couldn't see using it, I didn't understand how it would take the striping off but not the paint..

I just recently found my '50 Pontiac kind of with the same treatment as yours. I am currently fixing the "ugly"
Mine had 62 Plymouth tail lights "glued" on with Bondo, plastic stick-on side trim from Kmart and body color painted bumpers, just to name a few.
Under all the ugly is a pretty rare and solid hard top Catalina, so I will bring her back the way she should have been the first time.

Mike, great job on your transformation. Yu have a great "eye" for making changes, yet not redoing paint work. That's not easy.

No, its not east at all, lol.. Being very careful not to screw up the paint completely.. Although there are a couple spots where I lightly scratched, but I can buff them out. I do need to get some touch up paint made, I kinda screwed up when I replaced the tail lights, but once touched up it'll be fine.

Mike, I have used easy off many times to remove pinstriping with out hurting the paint, I think the trick is to put it on for about a minute then remove it along with the pinstriping.

By the way what happened to the Chrome naked lady, I wanted to see her in the grill, LOL. You did a great job on making it your car. Larry

I figured that since the striping has been on for so long that the easy off would harm the paint.. Wet sanding it was easy, the whole car took me like 2 hours.

HAHA, I have the naked lady in my garage, I will always keep that as a reminder of what the car was, lol.. I will see if I can dig up a picture of the grille with her in it.

Haha, there she is.. No need for the apology, just shows how nice something could become out of something so bad, lol..

    It's a 56 Chrysler, the model I'm not 100% sure

    Thanks Teddy

    Lol, yes it does..

Naa, come on, you gotta look past those things. The bolt on crap can be easily replaced.

just wondering what you did about the top after you added the quarter windows? any pictures with the top up with them in? and by the way, that interior looks like a completely different car. again, great job. look forward to seeing it again.

The car is going to the top shop this week to get that addressed.. I will post a picture as soon as I get it back..

I was workin on the car today, I finished up the passenger side trim and put the new NOS ripple lake pipes on. This week, after the top shop, I'm going to paint the inserts Gold and lower the rear a little more.
