I like 'em both ways, but in this day and age if it's not yet chopped I'd leave it that way. A stock height coupe is an uncommon sight.
I really love the look when its got a hard chop to it, plus the channel would make it a tight fit for me,but still love it!!! Will cut mine 3 1/2 or maybe trade with one cut already yeah this one with the 5 inch chop looks great[/QUOTE]
I think either unchopped or maybe around the 2.5" ballpark looks good. But it's your car man build it like you want and whats comfortable for you. Everybodys gonna have their own opinion but the only one that matters is your own.
5" looks great! I was always fond of the staggerd look myself....like 3.5" front, 3" rear....looks more Bonneville to me....but in the end its all about taste....they all look awesome
personally I think there is alot that factors into what makes a chop perfect, example, a full fendered car looks fine unchopped or maybe 2-2 1/2 inches, but go much more than that and the fenders need to come off. But it really isn't fair to say that as I have seen some 4 inch full fendered cars that really look great. I think stance, tire size, ride height, hood or no hood, or channeled or not makes a big diffrence in what chop to go with. basicly it is the overall combnation of the car that will decide if it is the perfect chop or not. And also keep in mind we do not all have the same taste in cars, I have 2 32 five windows, 1 unchopped the other is about 3 1/2 inches. Some guys think there is no other car than a 32.....Not me! my buddy has a 30 model A on duece rails that if it wasn't for the money I had tied up in my 32, I would throw keys with him. also sorry for bringing up old post!.....I just had to throw my 2 cents in...LOL
Very nice. That's pretty close to where I'm heading with mine. I like how they look unchopped w/o fedners.
Build it, sit in it and measure how much space you've got between you head and the top wood... Then add an inch or two for when you hit a nasty bump and chop away.
I remeber seeing this car in a old gas station or show room of some sort. Any word of where this car is now?
Mine's chopped 3", wouldn't change it....just realized how old this post is, hope the original poster's done by now.
. Here is the Chemical City Coupe from a few different angles. The chop is approx 5.5 " front and 5.25 inches in back. The a pillars were leaned back.
I marked this for 3.5". It's actually about 3 5/8ths. Personally i like 3.5 - 4". I just think the proportions of the quarter window look best there. BUT thats just me Tony
sorry its an old post & forgive my ignorance.. but does anyone have more pics / info on this car.. it's just about perfect in my eyes.. thanks Deuce
The perfect chop is any amount you want. That's the thing about '32 5 windows, they look perfect with any amount of chop and they look perfect with no chop at all. That's because they are the perfect hot rod !
