I don't recall seeing this here before. I found it today while wandering aimlessly on the Internet. The caption reads "Art Arfons of Akron, Ohio, wears a monstrous outfit as he checks on new equipment on his dragster named "Green Monster," in Los Angeles Calif., July 27, 1959. Arfons was in Los Angeles for pre-meet warm-ups for the 1959 National Championship Drag Races in Detroit on Sept. 3-7. His dragster, known as one of the most powerful, is one of 750 hybrid cars entered in the races sponsored by the National Hot Rod Association. (AP Photo)"

OK, so I know it's a sickness, but I'm strangely attracted to this one - both angles.

From the family photo album, sometime back in the mid 70's, somewhere in the southwest.
More to come as I come across em.

Gotta love the old Dodge's, or Plymouths, This appears to be a 33' Dodge with that quarter window. I once had a 36 Dodge 5 window business coupe. Wish I still had it.

I've got a shot of this car (named "Green Goddess") I posted here a while back. It was at the Speed and Custom Car Show at McCormick Place in Chicago in the mid-'70s. Nice car; it was usually at the show every year. I remember it had frenched wraparound taillights.

Don't bother looking for the photo now; it's in Photobucket purgatory until the end of the month .

Edit: Just did some Googling under "Green Goddess" Corvair and ID'd the owner as Diana Brodman, chair of the first Corvair convention in Chicago in 1971.

Unfortunately the Green Goddess was wrecked just last year when a tree fell on it .

For a change I have pretty good link: dazzling Kodachromes taken by an airman assigned to Greenville, MS and Williams, AZ in 1952. Lots of planes, but some neat vehicles like the "chuck wagon" bus and a '41 Ford Tudor with skirts, '37 DeSoto bumpers and a frenched license plate in the smoothed deck lid. Enjoy!

Could very well be. These are all old vacation pics from my parent's trek across the southwest about 8 years before I came in to being.
Since I mentioned him, here's my pop in I'm wanting to say the late 40's after a minor traffic accident, somewhere up in the panhandle...

There's an "Unsafe at any speed" joke sitting right there, but Diana looks like a lovely lady, and since this photo was from the 70's I would have been calling her Mrs Brodman and asking her for another cookie when this photo was taken.
