Strange thread like this gets over 90 replies in one day, while some really nice , creative projects fade away never to be brought up again,. I think the guy who named it "Douchenberg" " had it right

I apologize.....I believe you are correct, it DID start life as a '30-'31 coupe. The picture is awful, so the tank seam and the tell-tail molding bead near the windshield is nearly obliterated....as is the side molding lines due to the glare.

I also agree....it does have quite a bit of potential.

I would love to take this "disaster" off someone's hands for cheap because "it's an abomination".
Then a build somewhere along the lines of that photoshop job you did and I'd be perfectly happy with it.
Amazing what this place/hobby is becoming...

This car is what I thought this site was supposed to be about, traditional hot rods.

This is a true hot rod that looks to have been built in the 40's.

I guess it's time to give up and let everyone rewrite history the way they want it to be, and let this cool old Hot Rod fade away and get parted out.

Soon all the old hot rods will be gone and forgotten,
just like the old guys that came home from the war that built them.

  14. If you feel so strongly for this car, Then you should contact the original poster, get the contact info of the fakebook douchebag individual who owns the "rare one of 12,000" pile of parts and save it. Quit wasting time and go get it, preserve the history and don't let anyone rewrite it.

If you can't swing it (understandable) then find someone who can and shares your passion for the car pictured. It really doesn't matter how much the current owner wants for it, or thinks it is, or how far away it is, because you can't get that history just anyplace.

So.........what is the asking price for this rare piece of hot rod history. If the price is right there are some good useable parts there. But then again there was one of those rare cars on Barrett Jackson, or was it mecum and it went for 6 digits. Honest I saw it. I know it has collector value. That seems to be the norm nowadays. Everything is rare and collectable. Ken

I think it could be fixed! I've seen worst brought back to life! Just fix all the bad weld joints, ditch the windshield and go with somthing like a duvall. Do an overall clean up and try to finish what sombody started! $3500?? what year is the frame? it looks Ford from the pics, does the engine turn over? which tranny? maybe $2000 to $2500 if it has a title.

If it was somewhat finished, with wide whites, red wheels and air bags guys would think it was so kewl.

I'd like to see more pics. there is no detail in the photos, nobody here has any idea what the frame looks like or how it was built, yet everyone feels the need to shit on it. it could have just as easily been built to the highest standards of the day

sits right, wheels are in the right place, body is a bit odd, but that could be changed.

I don't understand all the hate.

Yeah, you can. My buddy is the shop lead at Mythbusters. They polished turds just fine.
