Yup. I'm going all drums. Having trouble finding wheel cylenders. And watch those rear drums. 97% of the time they need a puller to get them off.

I've been out of a job for a min. I'm stripping the battery/cables/anything else I can off my wifes
Old stratus including the alternator. Before we scrap it. Think that stratus fuel tank would be usefull in the Pilothouse? I'll probably just fork out $80 for a nice hotrod tank but It crossed my mind to possibly use the old stratus tank. Shit. It would be free lol.

Nikky... pm me what wheel cylinders you need. I have my old front drums (off of my '55), and the cylinders look newish... I'd send them to you for just shipping.

Not sure.. but willing to check!

  6. I don't know about the stratus tank. Your truck didn't come with one? I am not 100% sure but I think the tank has to be put in before the cab goes on. I tried for days to put my tank on and it just wouldn't go in. I ended up modifying it.

Awesome project. I have a '52 B-3-D 126 one ton I have had for 15 years and just now getting started on it. It has been runing all these years and bone, bone stock except the bed rusted away 30 years ago.

I just looked over my old brakes... I guess they're worse off than I thought, the drum master cylinders are all rusted from being out in the NW rain. Sorry!

You can probably use cylinders from a more common application. As long as the bore size and the stroke are comparable, you can easily make the bolt holes work. I say this because my grandfather used wheel cylinders from a Lincoln on his f-1. The stroke was the same, but the bore was different. They increased the stopping power over the stock F1 brakes.

Chevy S-10 gas tank will fit in place of the stock tank with some modifications... size is correct. The filler has to be relocated on the tank and the filler neck on the truck modified but all in all not a hard job.

We looked all over for a tank for my brothers 51 with no luck.

Very cool. The first truck I ever drove was a red Pilothouse Dodge that was the service truck for the gas station I worked at during high school. Start the engine in the morning and make sure all the rods were knocking a bit and it was good to go, they finally blew it up while I was in the service and replaced it with a GMC. I plan on doing my Jimmie as the service truck at the same station and figured on a drag push pad on the front as Sunday was 'our' day to work on our cars. :D

Big update soon! Sorry I haven't been on here in a while. I've been in the process of moving and a lot of work! In July I'm moving the pilothouse to my buddies place where I can get more done!

Carb throttle bushings. I chased that idle thing around on a "68 Futura wagon and finally figured it out by accident.

Nice build thread, subscribed. Had one of these when I was 13 years old. Paid $100 for it from a family friend and pulled it out of a giant blackberry bush. Never did get it going but I learned a lot pulling it all apart.

Great energy and enthusiasim and working with what ya got. I love Dodge 40's and 50's trucks, owned a `46 at one time. Job Rated, yo!

Now, I don't mean to be dick and correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't the term "pilothouse" refer to the cabs with corner windows?
