Just checking for a friend who picked up this '58 from Huntington Beach. It's an old gasser that ran a cross ram 409 and a hydromatic with 5-something gears. It has been sitting beside a garage there for a few decades.

Anyone know anything about it or have pictures of when it was running? Looks like it was originally the blue/green color, then red, then black. It also looks like it has a spray-on vinyl top with stripes down the center.

    Here are a few shots.

Cool car. I was really trying to figure out what a "Mid Blower" was. Maybe fix the title and someone that recognizes it will respond. Good luck in your search.

Some one should be thanking Gotgas for his help rather than the readers

Thanks for the link. I googled it and didn't find anything. I guess I was mainly looking for images.

How do I correct the title?

just what i needed to see--a car with real history---and not a new build with ''patina''---the ''p'' word needs to be banned!!!! I don't usually care a lot about 58s but this one is major cool.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So much for the myth of the rust free California car. Or is that patina that goes all the way through?

Ha ha just kidding, that is a cool relic.

  22. Huntington Beach.., salt laden air has been massaging that sheet metal for a long time.

It's just sitting in the yard waiting for someone to show it some love. It needs a ton of work to bring it back, so much rust. Would probably be easier to clone it then to restore.

I do still smile every time I look at it imagining it in the burnout box...

The guy that owns it wants to sell it. We'll see.

Update on this and it's COOL!!! The PO's wife got ahold of me and said that they wanted to get it again so I put them in contact with the guy who owned it (I was just storing it at my house) and they worked out a deal. The guy who built it like it sits and sold it in the early '70s got it back. Included in all the paperwork was an envelope that had the bill of sale and other pieces. His mom's handwriting was on the envelope and he got all choked up. Even though the car is pretty rusty he is searching for replacement pieces to bring it back. It needs everything touched. A big project. Even though, he is totally thrilled to have it back in So-Cal.

Here are some of his photos he shared.
