righteous ride there bro. where'd you pick up the skill set?

  2. Cheers mate. A youth spent playing with lego, followed by fucking things up in the garage at home pretty much!

Not much to report build wise, I've been saving quite a bit lately so that i could afford these goodies.

3 rebuilt rochester 2G's with 3 cast air filters, progressive linkage on an offenhauser manifold.

    Powergen alternator.

16x6 steels for the rear (currently has 16x4.5's all round)

Brookville deuce grille shell to replace the fiberglass shit that i have at the moment.

Loads and loads of other little bits. I've got a plan for the tail lights, so i bought some repro 50 pontiac lamps to use the lenses from.

Also got some socal shocks for the back, which i've started to mount.

I couldn't resist mocking up the tripower set up and the headers, i'm pretty pleased with the overall look now.

The last photo with these carbs and headers really screams out HOT ROD.
It will be great when finished.

Great to see the build of the Coupe, maybe I can have a look when I come back to visit my family in Guernsey? I started a build of a 1928 Sportcoupe with a French Flathead when I lived at L'Islet, but had to give up due to illness.
You should be proud, most excellent work!

  18. Of course you can mate! Such a shame that you never got to finish yours. I'll take you for a spin in this one when it's done for sure! Thanks very much for the compliment too :)

I'll try my best to have it at the hayride steve, but don't hold your breath!

It was time to shorten the rad next so that it'll fit under the dropped grille now that the car is channelled.

After unsoldering the frame i drilled out these old dome headers

chopped almost 5 inches off the bottom of the frame and beat the ribs flat on an anvil.

Then plug welded through the old rivet holes

Once i'd done both sides it all went off to Dave at sarnia radiators to refurb the whole thing and fit a new shorter 11fpi core to replace the tired old 8fpi one and give it a coat of hi temp paint.

  19. Next job was mounting the alternator (which should have been simple...)

To cut a long story short, i wanted to run a Powergen generator style alternator, and i wanted to stash it down low to visually keep it out the way but it turned out to be way too long and fouled the L/H motor mount.

Once i'd figured out that the back end of the can is pretty much empty i pulled it apart and parted off almost 2 inches from the rear portion of the can and re-assembled it with shorter bolts.

Plenty of low mount alternator brackets are available for SBC's, but i couldn't be certain that they'd mount it exactly where it needed to go, or that they'd even fit the powergen so the next logical step was to design and make my own.

It's made from stainless steel flat and round bar taken for free from a local fabrication shops scrap bin so it only owes me the cost of a few nuts, washers and cutting discs.

It'll all get buffed to a mirror finish before final assembly.

My brother made this cool little time lapse video of our days work-

I could not be happier with the way it looks, and so far i've really really enjoyed my first ever roof chop :) Now all i have to do is weld it all back together...

Still a few hammer marks to iron out in this pic, but one of my neighbours threw a shit-fit about all the noise i was making so i called it a day. I'll piss her off some more tomorrow..
