Anybody have a pic they can share with me on where the bottom of the hood hinge spring attaches on a 1949 Ford car? No springs were with the car, I have springs now but cant figure out where the bottom attachment point should be!

Prop rod holds the hood up, yes. BUT - there are springs on the hinges that pull downward to pull the back edge of the hood into place and hold it tight again the cowl seal.

Yes that is correct, bottom of the spring fits into a slot in the flat panel directly below the hinges, just keep the back of the hood from "floating"

I thought that's what the slot was for and put one spring on like that. The spring was so tight I thought it was going to damage the hood. Thanks for the info!

Pics are working, spring in the pic looks stretched a lot like the one I installed as mentioned above. Thanks!

My 1950 coupe. I hope it helps. This is as I got the car, before I took it apart. the spring just pulls the hinge backward when closing. It does not hold up the hood like a chevy hinge spring does.
