Yes! Thanks to all the members of the allied forces who hit the beaches that day. Utah, Omaha, Juno, Sword, Gold. As long as I live, I will honor your memory, especially on this day. Thank you for saving the world.

Remember, these guys that came back from over seas made hot rodding there hobby so we could enjoy it today. We wouldn't be doing it if it wasnt for them, we would all be driving VW's.....
If you know a WWII vet, thank him while he's still here. They are disappearing too quickly now. They helped start the hot rod scene we now enjoy along so many other things we take for granted.
I get the privilege of teaching 6th grade American History. Many students have heard the phrase "d-day" for the first time in my class. I try to do it justice, so it's not just another boring history fact. It is an honor to tell the stories of the greatest generation to the next generation.
Went to Nomandy, stood on the beach, walked in the cemetery. Still chokes me up. If you criticize my country, be ready for some tough going.
My dad was there and made it back unscathed to live and NOT tell about it. There wasn't a lot my father wouldn't talk about, but he seemed to have blocked that whole part out. He's long since left this world, as have most of the ones that made it back, which is unfortunate because they were some of the best Americans and our whole nation is a lot poorer without them.
The Greatest Generation. Uncle Pete lost most of his stomach there attacking a pill box. He taught me how to do barrell rolls brook trout fishing and to paddle a canoe.
This was the last major turning point in Europe in WW II. God Bless all who served and especially those who made the ultimate sacrifice - we salute you....
My Dad was a frogman...Pacific Theater. He was vigilant for the Invasion-striped aircraft that pulled together on D-Day.
Thank God that the Americans came into the war and joined us when they did. Thanks to all vets who gave us freedom.

My dad flew one of these (Airspeed Horsa) into Sainte Mere-Eglise on the second day of the attack. English glider--American pilot. He also piloted Wacos (American gliders) and co-piloted C-47s. He never made a big deal of the war, it was something that had to be done and they did it.
When I was in school our teacher brought the film "The Longest Day" and we watched it in class. Bless all the Vets past and present, for keeping us free. Thank you.
The Nazis were fascists. Socialism has nothing to do with it. My grandfather landed on the beaches on D-Day. He wouldn't talk about it, but reminded me that "They didn't just call it 'the Red Beach' because the rocks were red".

I ran some errands today and made a swing by the Veterans Hospital to drop off some magazines. Sadly, I had to remind a few people what the day was. A lot knew, after I spoke up, but some had forgotten. It amazes me that people can go about their day, sweating the small shit and remain clueless towards our nations history and the men and women who fought and died to preserve our way of life. So, yea, thank a VET, but maybe remind that kid on the ipod what's going on.
