So I got home from LSRU last year and decided that is was time to rip apart the 49 and do all of the things that I've wanting to do and been talking about doing for years. So I thought I'd make a new thread to document the progress along the way. Here goes nothing.......

    rolling home from the round-up....
    [IMG]</a>

    pulling out the flatty....
    [IMG]</a>

    gutted.....
    [IMG]</a>

    smoothing out the firewall...
    [IMG]</a>
    [IMG]</a>
    [IMG]</a>
    [IMG]</a>
    [IMG]</a>

Chromed the dash....leaving the center chrome, painting the rest

    Very cool! What's your plans?

  3. I remember seeing this car at the round up. Chased you halfway down congress street to get a closer look. Finally ran into you for a bit at the show the next day and got some great info. Love the car, love what you're doing with it, can't wait to see it on the road again.

  4. Man-oh-man, I've been working on my car for 2 and half years and if I ever get done it won't be as nice as the car you just blew apart.

Damn, that's bold! That thing was beautiful before you started. Any pics of the interior before the tear-down?

current plan are pretty much a full redo with the end result being a car that I can jump into 365 days a year and drive comfortably even in the hot Texas summers.

    -smooth out the firewall
    -clip the front end
    -power brakes / steering
    -new motor
-finish out the air ride in the front
    -AC
    -smooth out gas door
    -new gloss paint job
-head to toe interior (black on black)
-narrow and smooth front and rear bumpers
-chrome dash, window frames, front grill, front and rear bumpers

Im sure the list will grow as the build continues.

Engine bay pretty much done. Fire wall smoothed out. Ditched the old air vents and made some new ones from 4" tubing. Now time for the front clip.

  27. Man ive been a fan of this car since I ran across some pics of it on a google search a year or so ago. Was hoping I would see it on the street since Im frequently around Arlington but havent yet. Anyhow, looks like your going to make it even better with these proposed mods. Keep us updated.
BTW, are you staying with the same color and any thoughts on adding some flames?

This was a great looking car before you started the rebuild. I can imagine how nice it will be when you are done with the rebuild!

  30. Great car!
Inspires me to continue with my 49! Not taking near as much work as yours - hope to be driving it sometime this summer.
