WOW! Nice find. Congratulations. That's a model 19A-67 with with the auxiliary seats.
Only 1251 units were produced. Kind of rare.

I've always though '41 Mercs were a unique ride. I never knew about the short door models.

Thanks everyone I'm really stoked about this one.

19Fordy thanks, I hadn't even pulled the production numbers on these cars, that's pretty awesome that there are only 1251 units ever produced of this model. :D

I picked up a 41 Mercury long door and I have been upgrading parts... I'm not keeping spares so I'll have extra parts available once I sort out what I'll be using... at least you have the advantage of seeing it together before you start... mine has been apart since 74 and he bought a 41 ford parts car and so it will be a trial and fit project to say the least...

  14. HOW IN THE H-E-double hockey sticks DID I MISS THIS!!??

I have been following with interest your Chevy build - and now this!? Awesome! I will be P.M.ing a few of youse-guyses real soon!

Great find (Alabama must have these tucked in a few corners as that's where mine ended up before landing here).

Best of luck with both projects!

Great find and nice project car. I passed several years ago on a short door 41 Mercury and bought the dealer's 46 Coupe. The 41 was 50% bondo and not many trim pieces original. That grille is hard to find. Don't know where it ended up. Good luck.

Dave, I remember your 41 when it was for sale on here, looks real good. Thanks for looking, should be starting on this late next year, this one will be an old school build, no bags like my 54...:D

Thanks for looking, found a few grills, about all I'm missing is the rear trim now and a few odds and ends....

Is that 1251 19A-67 coupes in the States or North America? I bought a 41 merc with auxiliary seats in 2012 and found a book with all on Mercs from 39-50's and found 1954 made I believe of the 19A-67? Hmm I'm just curious where you found that number! I love these cars and will NEVER sell my 41 merc. To rare and to beautiful to sell.

  20. Although probably not of much interest to most of those wishing to read about your finding your dream car; I have come across some production numbers I will add here if that is okay. Might help those following along to know what the designations refer to as well:

According to quotes from the "V8 Album", the "Ford Factory" (U.S. only?) and an unknown researcher (domestic & foreign) - production numbers* were:
    19A 67 Coupe (opera seat)............................ 1,251.......... 1,841......... 1,954
    19A 70 Tudor Sedan.....................................11,276........18,983........20,932
19A 72 Sedan Coupe (this is the "long door")....12,297.........17,259........18,263
    19A 73 Town Sedan......................................25,922........38,848........42,984
    19A 76 Club Convertible................................. 6,112......... 8,157......... 8,556
    19A 77 Coupe (business)................................ 1,560......... 3,117......... 3,313
    19A 79 Station Wagon.................................... 1,010.......................... 2,291
    19A 84 Convertible Sedan................................................................... 119

*From the V8 Times - issue unknown.

    -Dave

    p.s. I won't be selling mine either! :D

  22. It seems it's been asked before, and I'll start another thread, but what about the racecar?

The Tormey Merc was originally powered by a full race 296 cuin Merc mill, complete with all the goodies. Later an Oldsmobile mill was dropped in, so it seems he was into speed and kustoms. But to answer your question I'm not sure about the race car in the background.
