Hey Rocky. No THANK YOU!! This was one of the greatest events! We had a blast, honestly the fun we had at Eagle Field out weighs the blown engine. We will have a new one by October.

I'm driving the Doll in the wheels up pic.

Here is a picture of the four port block, it's hard to see in the last picture but the exhaust ports have been heavily ported as well.

Hmm, reminds me of a song....Well she's ported and relieved and she's stroked and bored.....sorry, never could carry a tune. Hope this one lasts as long as the first.

Well it will run on alcohol and it will still be injected so there won't be the stress of fuel or a blower...knock on wood. But being that the block is filled that should strengthen it up.

Thanks for the pictures of the block,
I wonder how much good the 4th port really does ?
I was thinking of putting a exhaust port at the front and back of the block on my blower engine, trying to get all that air out.

Hey Dimitri, I finally got my pictures from Eagle Field downloaded and sorted and had these two of you and Amy with the Doll. Thought you would like them for your collection.

Too bad about that engine, I hope Amy doesn't think you did that on purpose! If it was me I would find another block and put it back the way it was as quickly as you can, doesn't seem right to have those extra exaust pipes sticking up out of the engine like that. I know, it would run better, but it won't be the Antique Doll now will it? Kind of like sticking a sbc in a ford, might run better or not, but just not right.

Well the "Doll" did have a 4 port engine for a little bit back in the mid 80's.

The plan was to build a 4 port and have it done for Eagle, but during machining we found it was going to need a lot more work done to block and even then the block won't be a "reliable" block (not that any race engine is) The block that blew has been running since the late 70's and had a few rebuilds, so we call that reliable! :D

This 4 port block may have a good 2 or 3 strong runs, maybe even a few years worth. We don't know. But we need a good engine so we don't miss anymore races.

We picked up another block, along with another one we have as well, you can never have too many.

The plan now is to build a 304, with the exact setup we have now. Something we know we can run for awhile, with just minor rebuilds. After that is done, we still are building the 4 port, and it will be just a fun engine. See what happens with it, and if it blows up we will look good doing it, but we will still have a good strong engine we can "rely" on.

Hey D:) Sorry to hear that the engine blew. If you can find one, look for a French one;).

    Finally got an update!

Last time I was here we unfortunately blew the engine at Eagle Field and have been set on building a new one.

    ImageUploadedByH.A.M.B.1403763136.008459.jpg

Well today was that day. Our buddy Dave McCain built us our new motor.

304ci, Potvin cam, heavy port and relief. Milled the heads to bump compression and running sbc valves for bigger intake and exhaust. It's good to go!

We fired it up today and and looking forward to test it out at the Antique Nationals in Fontana this Sunday!

Our goal is to be in the 11's, the best the Doll has done with a flathead has been 12 flat.

    More updates to come!

Dimitri, your ports are perfect! (I've spent a week getting them that nice...more than 8 hour days, too! Make that...2 weeks inside one!)
Which Potvin grind is it? (Chico told me the core cam had to be a steel '32 for the big Potvin Eliminator grind)
