Mag wheels that look like Hot Wheels?

Hi all,

I've been wondering, lately, if there is a company making wheels that would give the same effect as the wheels on the Hot Wheels cars we played with as kids?

I realize those little plastic wheels were probably modeled after Keystone mags, or somesuch, but are there any wheels that came on later, which look more like the Hot Wheels wheels, than Hot Wheels looked like Keystones?

Spokes looked narrower on the cars I think.. been a while.

While really ugly, I always thought these Chevelle hubcaps best represent the Hot Wheels mags

 

That's what I was thinking...the "wheels" on Hot Wheels look more like hubcaps, and the Chevelle's are close.

To get the look just right you'd need some 2" redwalls!

 

I seem to remember in the nineties one of the wheel companies having a licensed Hot Wheels line. Or I may be making that up.



I'm not sure that wheels held on by a peened over rod will past tech inspection.

I think this is a KMC licensed Hot Wheels wheel from the early 2000's. from memory the smallest diameter was 16 or 17 inch. Whilst not very traditional you gotta remember that one of the things that make a Hot Wheels wheel a Hot Wheels wheel is the exaggerated size compared to the rest of the car.

We still run these on the Twinmill today in, I think, 20 inches. Just restored it and had some reclines custom made and it looks great. When we first built it it had 15 Cragars or Americans or something and just didn't look right with wheels that small....

Those Chevelle hubcaps do look very close though, probably because there is no dish, just like to ones on the toy car.

I know this is WAYYYY O/T but a buddy put Rocket 'strike' wheels 18's & 20's on his first gen GTO & it really looked like a Hot Wheel,

 

IMHO the the blades are waaaay to skinny. "Hot Wheels mags" just don't come to mind. Now those Porsche Fuchs on the other hand..

 

What wheels are these? Stock Mustang, or custom?

 

Put on a set of Motoro Wheel Spyder Wheels on. You will probably be the ownly one running them for miles around. Not the best looking wheel but for sure has the oddball/"rare" look going for them. Came out late 60's early 70's I think.

 

Yeah, I gotta agree with you. The Fuchs won't work on twin mill because it really is a huge car. We'll do some custom wheels eventually, when budget allows. The overall effect is much better now we have reclines on it. It gives it a little more 'tire'.

 

You can get Fuchs in all sorts of sizes nowadays. Big enough for what you need I´m sure, though the spokes also appear thinner on the bigger diameter versions.

I saw a set on a late model Mustang yesterday. They had American Racing center caps instead of the pony.

Looked enough like Hot Wheels to me! The center cap was less polished than the wheel, probably plastic, so it even kind of mimicked the axle lump.
