Yet another drag strip soon to be gone?

I just found out that Marion County International Raceway in Marion, Ohio is now up for sale, according to their web site. Let's hope some developer doesn't buy it and build some stupid condos. Maybe we should all pool our money and buy it. They have the Funny Car Nationals in August, this might screw up an excellent event.

Sad to see all these drag strips closing down. If the Beech Bend strip in Bowling Green Kentucky ever closes, I'd really be bummed .

No, I'm sure it's nothing I could afford....the last race track around here (Mansfield Motorsports Speedway) went for 700,000.

That Sucks !!!!! I participate with a funnycar at the Midwest Funnycar Nationals. I will hate to see Denny Salzwinger lose that site for the event. They always have a good crowd there and those fans are great!!

 

FWIW - I don't think Mark will shut it down completely.

My best guess is that he would only open it for a few events a year, plus track rentals. It would be great for him to get another IHRA SportsNationals out there again.
