Projects Oh No!!! It Can't Be...Another Gasser Build? Yup, 1961 Buick Skylark

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by BloodyKnuckles, Feb 10, 2009.

  1. So after 3 weeks of absolute thrashing I backed the Buick out of the garage under it's own power after it's 4 year slumber. I was totally giddy, like a little bitch.

Within the last week my Buddies came by the shop and helped with wiring and finish detail. My good friend Jimmy Tu-Tone busted his ass and was excessively patient with me as was my friend David.

What it came down to was, with the help of my boy Jerm, we spent the last few nights until very, very late finishing up all the final things and firing the engine for the first time. Jerm came through for me and I greatly appreciate it.

    Quick pics;

...and the icing on the cake. I finished the car at 11pm the night before Steel in Motion, loaded it on the trailer. Ended up winning the "Most Bitchin" award from the Sock Fuckers Car Club. You guys are awesome!!! Thanks!

    The Buick looks killer, Congrats.

  3. Always like the little Buick, you made this one a GIANT KILLER!
Make sure you reinforce your trophy shelf or it will be saggin' with all the gold this gasser will garner you!

Great stance, and what a super body style. Always loved those old Buicks as a gasser!

  6. Looks awesome Ron! Here is a little clip from my phone. I didn't get the wheel stand after the water box burnout. Maybe someone else caught that.

Nice job and great build. Lots of fun miles in that car. It's so nice to start out with such a solid car. Your cool meter is pegged right now. Love it.
I was watching to see how you plumbed the radiator from the back to the front and back again. Can you tell me what you did? What you used? I'm attempting that also and am very interested. Thanks.

  8. Thanks man.

    Funny!

Thanks brother. Wish you could have seen it this past weekend. Next time.

Thanks. I like the stance but think it may sit a bit high up front.

No wheel stand vid? You suck!!
That simple video made me giddy all over.

I used 1" id steel tubing and hose. I was told to use an inline pump but I think I won't need one. I will take some pics for you.

Thanks guys for the kind words. I'm happy with the final result.

Thanks for letting me hang with you during the show. The car looks great. Hope to see run down the track next year. Don't let the Gold Chainers put you down? The Irons are the real hotrods. Peace

Just lose the fire starter air cleaner. One hiccup and that thing is going up... Seriously.

  18. You know that pos is only on there to cover the throat. I have heard many horror stories. Thanks for pointing it out though.

I'm still looking for a carb hat/bonnet to finish the Paxton. Man, I can't wait!
