The build and body look good. I have a riley auto parts double z frame under mine. I'll try and get some build pics soon. have painted the frame and starting to put it back together

sorry for the lack of updates, I have been making some progress. Driveshaft/torque tube are shortened & installed, steering is mocked up & i'm just juggling around with the pedals/steering column position/gearbox linkage before I bolt it all in.
Will take some pics this week & post up.

Kiwi, I must admit I was taken aback when I saw the '46 sideshift tranny...(of COURSE it shifts from the right!)...but I never thought about it! Just seen floorshifts down under.

Yes, your list has all the right stuff. Pedals look correct, just need a little massaging.
Still...So neat to see a roadster with a column shift! Can't get over it... LOL

The body is gorgeous. '30s are so...GEAR! Carry on, Mate.

 

Keep it up, KF. Looks good. God, I love traditional roadsters.

 

thanks Guys, Atwater Mike, I have 3 different types of pedals, 40's Truck, 40's Pickup & 46-48 Passenger, just trying to work out which is going to work out best.

 

Man what a breath of fresh air to see a build like this. Doing a great job bloke, keep it up.....

 

Here is a pic of the front, B4Baz & I reversed the spring with his press, making sure to keep the same arc. Spring is now a bit wide & the shackles are pointing down.
Guess I will pull it out & put a bit more arc in it?

Should have been finishing off my steering but got distracted by my headlight bar, Henry loves the camera, but isn't much help...

 

Steering box is clamped in while I finalise placement. I'm using an F1 box & a VW Kombi mount, not quite traditional but looks the part & solves the clearance problems with the Starter being right hand drive.

Also I found a windshield frame, just working out how much to chop it

 

the stance is right on. i'm glad to see an undropped axle without a suicide front end!!

 

yeah I like the look, I think it is correct for a 40's build, If you look through the old pics from that time there were tons of guys running undropped axles. Also just running a Model T spring in the rear with no step in the frame.

What exhaust manifolds are you going to use? I want to build a similar car from a '29 model and have been trying to work out cross steer using a '46 box but can't fit any headers. I think you have solved my problem. Thanks, Mike.

 

Hi Midroad, I will be doing my own headers with stainless flextube (see pics), stock exhaust manifolds don't fit with this setup.
