  1. So I'm undecided about keeping the fenders on my Coupe. Here's my plans for the build. I have a set of 35 wires that I'm gonna run 550's up front and 700's in the rear. Going to drop it in the rear with a T spring and do the same 4" strech axle drop that Elrod did to keep my mechanical brakes. There will be 3" cominng out of the roof also. I never tought I would come accross a complete car that I could afford but I did. It has all new front and rear fenders and running boards. Although they are repops the it very well.
Now I could flip the fenders and running boards for a few$$ to put back into the car or I could keep them. Here's a few examples of cars I dig.

  2. I vote no fenders. I really like the no fenders stock roofline look on the green one.

  4. Looks top heavy without the fenders.Either keep the fenders or channel it.

My "A" is not a banger. It is channeled the width of the frame and top is not chopped. I think the "no fender" look is racier.

This "A" belonged to Chris from Washington. One of the best looking full fendered banger A's I've seen. Dropped axle and lowered in the rear with the perfect tire/wheel combo.

Good fenders seem to be hard to find on a builder quality car.
    I say keep them.
    Everyone builds fenderless cars.

Wish I had them for my project.

  10. What he said. Same car I posted in your other thread.

  12. + 1 for FENDERS, if you have them USE them. I wish I had a set…

  13. Chris' car is apples. Apples are tasty.
The fender less hot rods are oranges. Oranges are tasty too.

    Can't compare apples and oranges.

I've got one with and building one without. I'm digging the hot rod look of the fender less one myself.

I like them fenderless, but if I had a third one, I would keep the fenders on it.

Not enough fendered hot rods out there.. I vote keep them.

And just so no one actually thinks no fenders are a pre-requiste on a hot rod..

It depends on what look you're going for. If you're going for an early look.. like pre-1950 dry lakes type of car look then lose the fenders.

I'd personally lose them, but it's not my car.

It will only take a couple of hours to swap back and forth if you can't decide. I kept all my mounting holes and fenders and boards, so I would always have the option. You could always bob the rears, that's a good look, if you leave em on.

Did I say hours? I meant days! It takes me a half of a day to do anything but I am guessing the OP is a lot more energetic than I am.

If I give an answer, I want a consultation fee. Yes, pay me to tell you how to build your car.:D

I like them both ways. My coupe was fenderless and I regretted selling them after the fact.

The difference is that if it runs fenders, it needs to be lowered to look like anything in my opinion, which will affect other decisions about the build.

My advice would be that if you do decide to go fenderless, that you keep the fenders and running boards in case you change your mind down the road. Especially if they're decent.

  26. beautiful!!!!!!!

It's the other way round. Bangers are too heavy. In my eyes Coupes with fenders that look really good are a rare sight, if it was mine, It would be the first thing I took off.

Tudors on the other hand, they look bitchin' with fenders and no hood as long as there is a rake.
