I've been scouring the local garage sales lately looking for an all leather sofa to salvage the leather to upholster my 1957 Hillman Husky seats...

...found a real dirty/nasty/never-been-cleaned one today for $50.00...spent 3 hours bringing it back to life with good leather products.

She walks in and says "Oh, that would look great in the TV room...

    fuck...

I don't mind letting my wife in the garage!! She's a lot of help!!! Of course she's been around cars her entire life. She worked for her father at a little shop in Bell Garden's called Junior's House of Color.

My wife has become very good about me buying things lately. I am curious what purchase she has in mind. A friend called today to tell me that he was at an auction and there was a Model A there. It was an unrestored, barn stored 4 door sedan. I wasn't really interested in investing my project money on a 4 door. My wife said that maybe I should drive the 30 miles to look at it. Even though she knows that I like Model A's, that is not like her.

Thankfully my wife does support my business....now if I can just talk her into thinking block sanding door jambs is fun!

  15. My wife would have been the one to find the couch and cut it up,,, she does all the upholstery. :D

  16. My wife is supportive and I'm thankful for that... She has no idea what she's looking at for the most part... But she shows interest in the vision, even if its a project.

The first 4 responses are the best.....

My better half cleaned my tool box and rearrainged my shelves. After she was done, I couldn't find anything, but everything was clean and neat...

Maybe she meant your old Hillman seats would look good in the TV room.

I've learned a lot of things here on the Hamb, but I think that the idea of using a used couch for the good leather is pure genious.

Letting the wife see it after it's all cleaned up...a little short of genious...lol.

  23. G'day all, My dad was watching tapes of the ot drag car at home. Real good footage of the burnouts and picking up the left front on the launch. Of course he had just mentioned that he needed new slicks for the car. Mom, not understanding the need for burnouts, gave him hell from all the tire smoke and told him no way he was getting new tires.

I do have to add that for Christmas one year mom bought him Strange axles, Strange spool, and a strange ring and pinion kit.

  24. I have been looking for an old leather couch for the same purpose for some time now.

Based on your experience if I find one I am going to strip it down before I bring it home!
