Dale, pro power is run by John Schliepers kids, Billy and Johnny. Their brother Dan is a hell of a good dirt late model driver, but doesn't work for pro power. These guys make some stout racing engines, Nice job on the mercury Mike!

So... After a million days I'm finally back on the cheetah. In about 12 days, when I get off this stupid boat, we will be tearing into the car, with a goal of restoring the chassis and having it running in time for steel-in-motion in may. My cronies are separating the body and frame and disassembling the suspension for me as I wait to come home. New bushings and ball joints are coming, and store bought but modified headers also. Pics will definitely be gorthcoming

You can.. Go to the first post and click on "Edit" on the bottom of the post, then click on "Go Advanced" and you'll be able to change the title there.

You'll probably have to do this on a computer and not your phone. Unless you do it in the Safari app.

A RACE TO STEEN IN MOTION!!!
I have 13 days to restore the frame and put it together. Yesterday I disassembled the frame and cut off all of the old unused plates from past trial and error changes.

57 Pontiac rear w/ 5.57's in it. This is compared to a stock 55 ford rear. No wonder they ran these back in the day. It's huge!! ImageUploadedByTJJ1367798061.089413.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1367798077.070898.jpg

Progress is good on the frame restore. Going to have the rear end done tomorrow, and all of the welding complete. Then it's just paint and assemble. Mr Ritter sent me a color pic of the engine. Painted mine today to match. Note that all the colors you see are matching what he built in the 60's, so if its odd, that's why ImageUploadedByTJJ1368157544.193004.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1368157562.092689.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1368157585.948289.jpg
The welds on this car are terrible. Amazing he ever passed tech, much less won so much without breaking. Here's the ladder bar closeups ImageUploadedByTJJ1368157661.745871.jpg ImageUploadedByTJJ1368157677.846427.jpg
I'm fixing all of that obviously

Weird... The ladder bar mounts were like 20 degrees from being square. He just drilled new holes. I fixed it ImageUploadedByTJJ1368157827.906366.jpg

Finished all the repairs on the frame. Even took the body mounts off to make sure they were clean inside. Replaced the front and rear crossmembers. Just finished fabbing the ladder bar mounts. Tomorrow it's paint, then assembly! ImageUploadedByTJJ1368326701.866116.jpg

This is a really sweet project. Can't wait to see it come together.

And the corpse in the background of your first engine pic.... may want to take care of that. Leave it sitting around too long and it'll smell something fierce!

  28. Too late... he's already "Bloated" and ready to pop!
