That is really a gorgeous early Custom... thanks for the additional photos Mark.
I also love the color on this type of early custom. And the period details like the set in license and the bumpers. WOW.

Early style Custom Cars are back...
I think we are seeing a new trend here.
First we had the 1940's style Hot Rods... and we still have those. And now its time to get all the early styled Customs to sit along side the Early styled Hot Rods... just like it was in the 1940's

Beautiful machine. The sunken license plate is perfect early-style at its B-E-S-T !

Beautiful! I believe this car has been for sale for quite a while some time ago. I remember seeing pictures of it online.

  7. What a beautiful car, Ford must be building these again, what with all the 1939/40 Mercury's i've seen on the Hamb lately.
Surely that must be the answer :)

I will get to the story at some point...but for now, I need some help. :)

Can anyone I.D. these flipper caps? The wheels are 16". I need to source a pair for the rear.

    Thanks!

  16. What a incredibly gorgeous car,I just saw this thread now.So early and classy it screams early Hollywood to me.I love the paint and interior and especially love that engine. It's nice to see an authentic Custom under the hood as well. This car just has elegance all around and I bet that Flatty sounds great.Beautiful car :)

That is one great car! :) Beautiful pre-war style.

I've seen that car a few times for sale on eBay a few years back. Had it in my Watch list just to see how the auction went. I think it wasn't sold the first times, but it got sold maybe 2 years ago. Did you buy it at that time, rodncustom?

I know a lot of people have wanted the story on this one. The short version is that it was built by a guy in SW Oregon...an unknown, but a neat guy with a huge collection of early Fords and a great builder. I have wanted the car for a long time and figured out a way to get the car bought, but not a way to keep it. :(

I would love to be able to keep it, but my two daughters are at that age where they take up most of my time and money...and I wouldn't change it for the world. :)

Here is the Mercury...its future story lies in Newport Beach, CA in June:

And I still have this sitting in the garage that may dad and grandfather built so between the two it's the keeper...
