Hot Rods Finally got the only car I ever really wanted!! **Pics added**

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Tugmaster, Apr 30, 2013.

  1. I've been through a few cars over the past years but I've always yearned for a Model A. They have always been beyond my reach based on price or hoorible condition. New England isn't famous for being kind to vehicles.
Well the planets finally aligned themselves and I scored one. 30 A rumble seat coupe. The entire running gear was rebuilt 10 years ago. The owner passed and is widow sold it to the guy I got it from. It runs well but needs some tinkering after 10 years of sitting, Valve adjusment ect. It still has break in oil in it!! The body is in very respectable condition. Not perfect but very do able!!
Ya know I really wanted to build a hot rod but I am kind of leaning towards doing a banger. Shit, the motor, trans and suspension are new!!
I don't know shit about Model A's. I will be getting cozy with the search function I'm sure.
    I'll take some pics tomorrow.
    Todd

Awesome to hear Tuggie!!!!! That's going to be a great little car for you. What's the ultimate plans? Like after you get comfortable with it in it's current state?

Man I love Model A's. My first old car besides my eight year old daily driver was a 1931 Model A coupe with rumble seat. Like a fool I sold it and bought a Model T. Model A's are fun and simple. You'll enjoy it.

Good for you Tugmaster! Best of luck with it, and have fun.

  9. Ya know JJ I'm not 100% sure yet what I'm gonna do. Like I said I always invisioned a hot rod. But at the same time I never thought I would be getting a car with a totally rebuilt drivetrain either! I'm leaning towards the banger thing.
Right now I'm going to try and find a good shop manual and get the Tardel book and go from there. Todd

Just a heads up, there ARE Model A guys that have fun with the cars, NOT ALL are the perfect date correct perfect finish on every cotter pin types. There is a Model A get to gether on the 18th in Shelton, Ct. check the Ford Barn for details. Missed it last year, plan on going this year. Bob

    Todd,
if you make the difficult decision to keep it original, visit fordbarn.com
Any and all questions will be answered however keep in mind we run them as they were. It is the best site for Model A's on the net.

  21. doesnt get any better than that! have fun dude!

  22. Dont' give up! I didn't get mine 'til I was 67.

  23. That is hamb member Chris' ( from Spokane) old coupe. In my opinion, one of the best full fendered coupes ever done. Banger powered and all. The evolution is well documented here on the HAMB.

Check it out ! And congrats and good luck with yours !
