I'm a driver and need to touch up the frame etc from time-to-time. Rustoleum with a brush - yes - a brush, and it looks great but this is not a points vehicle. It does take a while to dry but that is the beauty of it - no brush marks.

Yeah, whens the last time you saw a rusty fish? :D

QUOTE=HOTRODPRIMER;8845284]Having been in the retail paint business most of my life, I sold Rustoleum for many years,,it was invented by a Robert Fergeson in 1921 who was a sea captain who noticed that when whale oil was spilled on metal it stopped rust in it's tracks.

I'm sure they don't use whale oil today but it does contain fish oils. HRP[/QUOTE]

X2. Did you mix your own colors? They normally only sell basic colors, not all these 60 shades of blue like the more expensive paints.

My wife and I mixed red, blue and black to make a very mysterious deep purple... we were a bit afraid of it so we only painted the brake drums with it LOL

I plan on doing this to my T Bucket frame. Do I need to spend the extra money for the Marine grade or will the plain Rustoleum do the job?

  16. Sprayed with Rustolium after cleaning scale and rust, priming and a little sanding. Un thinned with my Binks pressure feed HVLP.

  19. Tractor supply "majic" works great. It's an alkyd enamel. It will fade in the sun. $30/gallon.
Covers better than rustoleum in my experience.
    Sprays awesome too.
They also have the hardener. They recommend naphtha for reducer.
They would be glad to sell you the little pint of it for $10. But in the same isle you can buy a gallon of naphtha for $15.
I just use paint thinner or whatever I have laying around.

They can order it for you. But you'll have to catch the clerk when she's not on her phone.:D

  21. Plain old cheap ass rustolem on a old rusty scrap trailer - with all the care that a rolling dumpster deserves.
Painted 11 years ago, no prep. Outside 24/7 with no love whatsoever. Dragged thru the salt of winter, pounded on, abused. Faded and chalky especially on the plywood. image.jpeg

Painted this about 6 years ago. Tractor supply implement paint with Hardener. A bit more prep on this one before painting it.
Also outside 24/7 in the sun with no love. The black has faded a bit and the orange faded much more but still nice, no chalkiness.
Kinda dirty because it's never been washed either.

Lowe's sales clerk couldn't tell me the difference between the two different gallon cans of gloss black that Rustoleum they offered. I called Rustoleum who told me that the "Professional" had a higher solids content. I'm not sure that makes a difference if you have to thin it to spray it.

  23. Rustoleum semi-gloss with a brush, I'm happy with it.
