A Great Dane with my Ford Escort...the Great Dane got up and ran away.
Jusr last week I hit a cat, goodbye kitty but only after doing about $800.00 to my OT car

I was cruising down the freeway when the car in front of me ran over a sheet of plywood. The sheet stood up and I ran right through it. No damage to the rod.

Driving my brother's '29 Roadster P/U, LS-6 big block, M21 Muncie, 98" fenderless 'legal' Street Rdstr...tooling down the road from Corralitos, out back from Merced. Didn't see the fat Western Diamondback the right front tire picked up...slung it right inside, the snake struck the passenger side of the seat, was trying to coil up, but was partially flattened from the tire...

My eyes were big as saucers, I jammed the binders, came to a screeching halt, still rolling when I bailed out!
Finally walked 'round to the passenger side, opened the door, the damned snake was squirming around on the passenger floor now, I looked around and got a small tree branch to get him out of there...No easy task!

Didn't have a gat with me, or would have put him out of his misery.
Kept my eyes GLUED to the road the rest of the way home...

Just finished a '32 tudor and driving it down to my brother's an hour away for it's first highway trip. Hit a bird on the way back. Killed another bird with it before that summer was done. Thankfully it hasn't happened since.

OOPS, I remembered some more. Last fall when we came back from visiting the Rolling Bones Flying Circus Bonneville Tour in Des Moines, I was rolling the last quarter mile of gravel to my brother's shop, in the same '32. Out of the west ditch a covey (?) of small birds I think were young pheasants popped up, and ran right under my front tires on their attempt to go east. Not sure how many I got, but my brother a quarter mile behind me didn't find any remains. Maybe they all limped home?

I swear the car wants a quail radiator cap.

Driving down a lonely country road, last ride of the year in my beloved 36, beautiful straight stretch, not a thing in sight, goddamned rock jumped up out of the pavement, could have rolled itself off the shoulder onto the road, I believe it chose me cause it wanted to give birth to many small rocks, I never saw it, oil pan has a huge dent in it, tranny pan smacked hard, lots of noises, no holes. Pissed me right off.

...But the BEST thing I ever ran over? My new corduroy sport coat.

I had a channeled '30 'A' Coupe, 276" flathead, '39 box, 16" steel wheels & baldies...shiny black Acrylic enamel. Car was recently rebuilt, I was going to High School, Lincoln in San Jose. Parked in front of Grandma's house.

Early morning, battery low, put it in neutral, pulled twice on the 2-jugger linkage and turn the key on.
Push with drivers door open, shove long stick into second, engine fires, pull back into neutral, step inside and keep it running. (Plan A; always works. Foolproof.)

This could have been a Monday...pushed stick into second, engine fired: "WHAAA..."
Linkage stuck half wide open, couldn't reach the stick, left rear tire ran over my ankle, up my leg, slammed me to the ground...Tire spinning, tears my new corduroy jacket off my right side...Car takes off across my curb driveway, about 20 feet, runs smack into the neighbor's huge oak tree in the parkway, engine dies...
I crawl up and kneel to shut the key off...
I was an hour late to school that day, but when I came back out, it started right up!
When I got to school, some NERD was parked in my #1 spot...

A dang fine 8 point buck, with a '53 Ford F-100 Panel at 35 miles per hour ---
D$#M buck got up and run off, left me with $1500.00 damage (me do the labor).
That was the second one hit with the '53 !! Who needs a 30-06, just drive a panel!

4 point, hit him then ran over him. More people stopped to help than I ever thought of.

My brakes went out one time doing 45 coming up on stopped traffic in the far left lane and I had to swerve onto the 6 inch tall median. that scared the shit out of me luckily there were no trees in that part and I hadn't lowered my 57 yet.

I received a phone call once from a frantic female friend that said she thinks there is something wrong with her car, she's on the side of the road. So, I hurredly went to look at her car only to find a mailbox under it. You didn't notice hitting a mailbox? No, but I've been hearing a grinding noise for the past few miles!

  22. I ran over the deadline on my 55 Chevy handyman wagon in 2004. Finished it the following winter. Then I ran over a manhole cover in Harrisburg PA on the '06 PowerTour that my hokeyass exhaust didnt quite clear. All parts remained on the car but it left a mark.

After finally getting my car done, I was at Kalamazoo Nats and made a 3-point turn and smacked a fuckin cement parking stop with my oil pan. I did not see it as I was watching the crowds and my friend was also watching the crowds! Big dents right at the drain plug. A new pan was replaced when I got home.

My foot (three times), my leg (once), and some four-legged animal late one night.

I left Da tinman's shop once about 30 miles from home and while running about 80+ mph. I hit a dead raccoon that was all bloated up (85degree weather) My truck only has about 4-5 inches of ground clearance and it went under my truck, most of it never came out the back. After about 3 seconds the smell hit me and stayed with me all the way back to town where I hit the first car wash I could find. My truck smelled bad for weeks. I wouldn't be surprised if there still isn't pieces parts under there.

On my way to a car show I hit a huge dog with my 29 Ford Coupe. He just bounced off the front bumper and just looked at me and ran off. I looked for his owner but couldn't find anybody. When I got to the show I had no idea why people were looking at my car and making faces until I looked at the radiator splash apron and it had a HUGE lump of dog turd stuck to it.

Ive hit quite a few things in off topic cars but my hot rod ones are. A orange cone at about 75 on the freeway while i was going around a rv. Also ran over both my baffles out of my gear drive headers. Then matt told me how to attach them so they wont fall out.

My absolute worst one I ever experienced, I was riding passenger in my buddys ot truck. It was night and we were behind a minivan doing 70 on a highway bridge interchange. All of a sudden the van slammed on its brakes and swerved into the other lane as we narrowly avoided a collision with it. We both said "What the fuck" as we looked at the van. Then as we looked ahead of us all we could do is gasp as we saw what made the van do that. A 250lb man. Laying across the lane already dead. God rest his sole. It was like hitting a tree trunk, the front end went up in the air and all we could see was the night sky then the rear end hit and slammed the front down hard. We were pretty shook up about the whole thing. After we left i had to clean the truck as all my buddy could do was cry. I know he still has some problems because of that night.
