  2. I've been chompin' on the bit waiting to see it all together again and it was worth the wait!
Looks spectacular! Damn fine job by everyone involved! Now I can't wait to see the engine and headers in place.

Man, I wish I wasn't so far away. I'd be happy to sweep and mop the floor just to hang around and help out! Gene, do you build your own transmissions too? Just-a-wonderin'. And the justifiable pride is showing on all in that group photo. :D :D :D

Was looking back at some of the early pages, and just noticed the upper right corner of this flyer ...150mph Willy backup car ... Picture is fuzzy ... Was that referring to the Moonlighter? Was the Moonlighter capable of 150mph runs !!

    What about the purse?

  20. Hey Gene what ring grooves are on those old pistons? There is some new tech (including end gap dimensions)with rings these days that can help the pistons to an even better job, than before. PM me or send an email if you like and I can go over it with you. If you haven't gotten rings yet, let me know, I'll get them for you.

Gene competed in "Run what you brung" races with the Willys and it would run 150 mph on alcohol. I don't think he used nitro in the Willys. Only he can answer that. This I do know. He was a top quality car builder and a top quality driver!

I've talked with Gene and he did run nitro in the Willys and the Mustang.

Wow, the Moonlighter did run the juice at times !! With the high roof & short wheelbase, it must have been a handful for Gene. I'm sure it amazed and thrilled the spectators !! --- Steve ---

  26. I was a teenager when Gene was running the Moonlighter and he always delighted the crowd with the wheels in the air! HRP

Thanks Ric, The Venolia pistons top ring was 46th with a deep groove, we had to get them from Venolia. This is just a stock bore and stroke
hi-riser from parts that i have just to get it running for now, trying to be
ready may 25. Planning on building a new engine later, have not decided which one or what parts i will need. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Gene
