Whatever Happened to Rolled Pans?

While we're hijacking- this is aussie vernacular. Similar population to that of California, and just as car mad- with the internet it's gonna rub off on ya.

Mate of mine had a '51 Ford in BRG with rolled pans, black steelies with rings & a hot flathead with 3x 97's.

im not really into flat looking roll pans, i like when its opened up and you can put bullets or a grill in it

A lot of cars up until the 70's had a neat roll'd rear beaver panel below the rear bumper FROM THE FACTORY, simply unbolting the rear bar and filling in the area's behind it will achieve a pleasant looking roll'd pan area. In the 60s and 70s some PEOPLE would remove there stock taillights and fit slim taillights into the cavity where the rear bumper had once hidden.

Running a roll'd pan at the rear doesn't dictate that you need one up front, it comes down to the likes of the owner and what he or she likes. 3 out of the 4 pre-62 rides I have, have roll'd pans on the rear only. One has an unboltable pan for when I feel like tackling city traffic so I fit the bumper back on for extra protection.
