Fyi. Your dash looks to be 49-50 Ford. 51 and 52 are completely different. I like what your doing.

Nice score. And to the 350(oh nooo) you wrote your plan was "I'm building the car as a late 50's hot rod" and then you can have a 350 There is correct time engines that arent that expensive

However like a couple of other posters, I'm also a bit confused on what style rod you are building?

Your first post said "My plan is to build a 40's style hot rod", but then later "the "32" dash was a fiberglass piece of crap. I'm building the car as a late 50's hot rod so I want to use a new style dash."

But I'm seeing a 350/auto, single four barrel, vega steering, round tube crossmembers, Hairpins, 9" on P&J ladder bars etc etc

Looks like a late 70's thru 80's style rod build too me ??

I wasn't trying to diz your roadster, I actually like it, I was just trying to ask what build style you intend finishing it as
See too many cars that mix era/styles, and don't quiet work

The chassis you have lends itself more too a 70's sort of car, than a 50's car

Would be logical to finish it in that style, and would save a bunch of rework/money
As it sits it reminds me of a lot of cool roadsters from that era

What wheels, tires, paint, interior do you have in mind?
Halibrand's, red/black/yellow, tan tuck and roll are jumping out at me ...... keen to hear what you are thinking

 

No wrong on your build, i just dont like the 350 Its your car and build it as you like it, you can change motor later when econimics are better Keep it up...

 

Nice job on the roadster. I like the work that you're doing, going to be one sweet little ride.

 

Do what you can , with what you've got! That is going to be looking good; and a load of fun to drive.

Well thanks everyone for following. Another great day in the shop. I finished all of the floor braising so I am close to being able to take the body back off to finish all of the welds.
Also I got the dash finished and welded into the cawl.






I also scored some sweet equipment for the motor. I can't wait to pull it back out and get her set up right...............

 

I just picked up this sweet little #

 

I got the column in place and all the brackets welded up today.



Then it was time to start breaking it down so I got the body off the frame so I could weld the underneath side and finish all the welds on the frame.

Ok I'm in. Don't care for the chev but know budget build so I know ya gotta do what ya gotta do. Can't wait to see hoe it turns out.

 

I gave up on this thread but not on the car. My 80's rod is finished. And will be featured later in Traditional Rod and Kulture.
