picked up the seats last evening , man am i happy - the pics dont do the color justice - its more maroon and has a great texture to it . im ashamed by all the more i was charged for the work (sounds stupid huh !) but the woman gave me a superb price and the work is great ! thats why i keep sending her work from friends and others locally looking for interior work . its really nice to deal with someone whose salt of the earth honest and who cares about the quality but doesnt bend ya over on price . also found a set of moser axles for a very good price and should have them soon . things are moving very quickly now !!! how much fun is this time of any build !
Looks like a fun project. I have been planning something similar for years, although my '66 Classic wagon will be powered by 4.7L Jeep stroker. Do you have any more pics of the rear spring hangers and shackle mounts at all? Are you just using Mopar Competition rear springs? Thanks.
well..... took the summer off (drove the shit out of my 70 challenger) - but now time to go back in the garage and put some time on the rambler . got some stuff done recently - all shift linkage made and on , z bar for clutch done rear diff and ladder bars done front brake lines and prop valve mocked up done seats mounted door handles and valve covers back from powdercoat fuel pump and filter mounting and lines done doors,fenders,deck lid,hood,bumpers,mirror-done painted buffed and ready to bolt on engine -bottom end together and cylinder heads ready to bolt on - got all engine parts purchased and ready to final assemble - drive shaft done should be a fun winter to get this rambler started back together . todd

How you doing 73rr? You sure did give me a lot of help when i had the 29 with the hemi-again thanks . As for the rambler the engine is a 1970 mopar 440 (hp) with .040 pistons , 2.20 and 1.98 valves (906 cast heads with a little extra care) steel crank , mopar performance dist. 2-450 holley carbs and really tall weiand intake , double roller timing chain (mopar) , crane rockers and a comp "thumper" cam kit , trick flow valve springs , aluminum front water pump housing and high flow aluminum water pump , thats about it - this combo should make this little rambler stand up and pay attention . I know that a similar engine in my 1970 challenger is a handfull and that e body is a shit load heavier than the classic 770 . Should be a lot of fun !!!!
things are moving along at a niced pace now . got the engine put together , got the trans and shifter and linkage all done /painted/assembled - brother is going into the last couple coats of primer on qtrs (LOTS OF BLOCK SANDING) got the mock up drive train out and are ready for final welds underside and then remove rear diff. front axle and clean and paint - then its fun time - re assembly - i love this part of it . its like doing a big model , everthing painted and new , then put it all together .
Been following your build and i dig it. Nothin like a big block chrysler and a 4 speed in a little car. I am intrested in your ladder bar setup is there any way you could post some more pics of them. I have a 64 dart a/fx and am considering cal-trac bars but my budget right now is preventing my purchase of them. Looks like you made your ladder bars and i am considering doing that instead the paint and interior on my car is bleeding my budget lol. im getting a little excited at this point got the rear qtrs and roof in primer going to put up on a hoist this weekend and do all the finish welding from there it goes to my brothers shop for final body touches complete the engine bay then final paint after that its time to start bolting back together
back at it hard again last weekend this weekend we should have the front and rear glass channels and the doors cut in should have the front and rear suspension out and started in paint hope to have the rest in paint by the 23rd then its back to my place and start to assemble this is the really fun time my brother and i both said-you know your getting close cause we get less and less dirty every week .
got the blurr in paint , buffed and ready to start back together . my brother did an outstanding job , he sure knows his way around a spray gun !
great weekend , made good progress . i need to learn when to quit working on this thing and go in the house ! too much fun now ! things are moving along at a good clip now .

thanks shoe-we are putting the original v8 emblems on the front fenders and the grill is the only place that says rambler . we also may trip up some folks with the 1968 barracuda side markers we put on .
hood on , r.f. door on , oil filter relocation kit on and all electrical from rear bumper to dash done . this thing just may make the gasser nationals at the end of may with any luck . im getting too damn old for those long weekends in the home shop . put in 23 hours in 2 days last weekend , and my back still hurts . so I guess tonight will be bench racing time at the local pub .
well.... got the doors on , most of the interior in and ..bam.. sudden stop in the action . I have been working on the clutch z bar and related items for 3 weeks now , hell last weekend I had just about 22 hours in the damn thing . we really should have gone with hydro t.o.b. and did away with the linkage - but nooooo we have to go with the old school linkage set up . I have never had this much trouble with something during a build , guess I should have paid more attention in geometry class . but in the end it looks like the damn thing will work . I had to make my own z bar , my own linkage (all done with hiem joints) and fit a big block mopar clutch style set up in 1964c rambler , but with some encouragement from a good friend (he is pretty good at this stuff) and lots of blood sweat and tears , it looks like it will work . I think I will take some pics of all the bull shit I had to do and post them . I will say this , a manual clutch/z bar configuration will never puzzle me again , I got this shit down now . later todd
Wow making some progress now interior in and done complete exhaust on and done (3 " w/flowmasters and some really cool cutouts) the engine should get a little spark this weekend !
