"Contrary to magazine coverage over the past half-century, red-blooded hot rodders like Paul have been a St. Louis mainstay since the beginning".

Circulation audits of all of the car magazines going back at least 50 years have always shown that the readership in the midwest exceeded that of the western states. One of the reasons that these guys were never given their due was the lack of events and tight travel budgets on the part of the national car books based in and around LA.

whaaaaaat? A story about St. Louis, Paul, and Creative Customs without the mention of gay sex? It must be a work of fiction.....

I told Joey to change his major at this year's Christmas party.

Great Job Joey. Keep chasing your passion . The Youth of today never listens to their Elders any way. So we should spur them on to their doom.

Passion is what it's all about. Someone who figured it out before me said "If you love what you do You'll never work a day in your life".
You're lucky to have discovered that early in life. Keep it up.

There are still a number of us that lived in and participated in the St Louis Golden Age of hot rodding starting in the fifties. We built our cars out of junk yard parts since speed equipment was rare and expensive. We have raced at Smartt Field in St Charles, Parks Airport in East St Louis, the Alton Dragway, and MIR in Wentzville MO. Although many of us are getting long in tooth, the memories of those wonderful years still linger. Although we didn't get much magazine coverage we had the time of our lives and would not miss them for a million.

Nice article. Again there are and have been great hot rodders and friends in the St. Louis area.
Sadly At my age some of them are gone. There are still some that carry on the interest in the hobby pass those traditions on to younger folks.
The HAMB has helped in this area to bridge different ages with common interests.

Dechrome, where does one find a plaque like in your Avatar? Does O'Brien repop those? That thing is awesome and well my last name and hometown being on it make it even cooler!

Thank you everyone. It's a big world out there, and I can't wait to bring it to you in the comfort of your own homes. Keep on doing what you're doing. . . and I'll write about it.
