Your car on the front of a magazine

I had a car featured in a magazine, I was proud !!!

 

I hit the cover of a few majors a while back I allways built outside of the box before it was fashionable to be different my big deal was to get in person complements from the the boys BillyB , Barry, Gary M ,Teddy Z Too Tall, and those guys that was the shit for me seems like a million years ago

 

My '59 Bird was on the cover of FUEL Magazine a few years back, quite chuffed. Thanks again Luke Ray!

 

Hey Dean- I was on the cover of that mag too- w/ my 55.

 

Just came out this week, highlight of the build.

Back when it was still a decent magazine--until SOMEBODY f*cked it up!

 

My friend Tom Burger and my cousin Terry Kroeger made the cover of THE GOODYEAR TIRE DEALER MAGAZINE in April 1970

 

Do people seek you out to put your car on their magazine? It's an amazing accomplishment, I just never knew how it happened...

What happened with our first Willys that we had we were at the New England Dragway at one of the nostalgia events and our friend has his Ford Fairlane there when he came over and said that a guy wanted to do a photo shoot of his car and that he would also like to have another one to do at the same time. So this gentleman named steve reyes (yes that steve reyes) shot both of them and ours ended up being the centerfold for the Summit racing catalog and it also made it into Street and Strip. Of course back then we had no idea who Steve Reyes was. He was a hell of a nice guy and certainly knows how to take a photo. It was an honor to have him do the cars.

I can't find a pic now. I got to help restore the car that mmade it on the cover of one of the sports car mags as "the most famous healey in America"

While working on it all I knew was that it was an old race car that had been changed up for the street and we were returning it to its prior glory. Apparently it was the last factory track 3000 sent to the US. I do remember spending a disgusting amount of time trying to get the windshield frame to body seal to sit right.

I think someone should shoot a picture of their car with it's front or rear tire parked on top of a magazine cover and post it.

Leaving just the title showing for instance Hot Rod.

That would be the best way to have your car on a magazine cover IMO.

 

Well its not exactly my car, but I will give Uncle Ray and VonFranco their props...Hopefully our version of the lil roadster will someday grace a cover....

Early 80's Magoo's V-12 Vicky,

 

Not exactly HAMB friendly but, I doubt I will ever have another cover car.

This was my '65 VW Notch, nosed and decked with all the trim removed, custom tweed int., elec. 1 piece windows, etc. We busted our butts and completed the car, from start to finish in 89 days! And that was starting with a "pile" with the bottom 3" gone due to rust. It was clear up in the posts!!!

The last week of assembly I got around 4 hours of sleep total! We finished the car on a Friday night (including engine), fired it up and drove it around the block for a test drive. Then we jumped back in and drove from Wichita, Ks to the Texas Motorplex (south of Dallas) for a car show Saturday morning! (With the new suspension the car settled 2 or 3 inches)

We were so tired, we missed exits and a normal 8 hour trip, turned into a 11 hour drive. We even hit a very large racoon on the way and had to change out the front bumper at the car show before the photo shoot later.

Was it worth it? Hey, my car made the cover and I bought at least 5 copies for my mother, and...

I owned the Corvair powered T Bucket that you built (1984 -1988). Neat little car, a blast to drive, and some wonderful engineering. Congratulations on a very nice build. Stu
