  1. So I bought me a F1 last summer in search of a little shop truck for myself and a driver in between my projects.

Kinda had in mind some ribbed trim rings and 40's caps for it so I order two early ford 15x7s from Wheelkid to go with my 15x5s that I already had so my truck could run the early caps.

Waiting for my wheels I had bought my Shoebox project some Merc caps and made the mistake of putting them on the truck while I had 15x5.5s in the front and 15x6.5s in the rear. I really love the Merc caps but still love the hotrod look of the caps and rings. What do you guys think? Caps and rings and keep it like most F1s on the road... or keep the caps and slowly turn it into a custom (I hope not lol). Thanks for voting.

Small caps and rings if you want it to look like a shop truck. Full caps if you want it to look like a car show truck.

  4. I personally like the full cap better, but i'm more of a brightwork guy......
Either way, still lQQks cool. Tough call there!

  5. I can't really decide but I do lean towards the full Mercury caps.

  6. The caps and rings are very nice, but still utilitarian.

The full caps are more custom looking.

Edit...I guess the point was to give you my opinion...

I prefer the caps and rings. :)

I like both but those merc caps look great on there. I wouldn't make it a custom truck though. Maybe a custom tonneau cover, something like white pleats or black with a diamond in the center. Just a mostly stock looking truck with a couple nice details added.

  8. I like a small cap and ring, any of the '40-'48 caps will fit it. The '40 Standard/pickup caps you have look good, '42 is my favorite of all the '40-'48 caps.

I like the shot at God's Amoco. I used to live down the street from it, just past the Hi-Pointe. So glad they didn't rip that sign down when they changed the station to a BP ... it's in the Guiness Book as the largest.

I vote ribbed rings with the poverty caps.

The full caps do look good tho. ...if you keep it that way, I wouldn't do anything else to it.

  12. I suppose it's personal opinion,,but I like this style. HRP

  13. My opinion: Keep the small caps and raise the rear a couple of inches of leave it low in the back and go with the full caps. Both look pretty good.

  14. That's what me and my buddy were saying... Tail dragger vs hotrod..

I say to keep the rusty old center caps that were on it when you bought it!

Just kidding, I like the caps and rings.

I hope the Merc caps come out from behind. They look sweet and every truck has caps and rings.

To me the full covers do not jive with the whitewall tires on that truck. The small caps and rings do. I do think it would look great just a little higher in the back especially with the caps and rings.
Maybe the full caps would look better with black walls.

I voted for the small caps, because I have '55 Merc caps on my '49 & don't want anyone else to have that look!
