    Hey Bob,
I guess i'll chime in with my 2 cents.

I haven't seen Dick Dale perform in exactly 20 years but can tell you that he kicked major butt from the second he got on stage til he finished! His band is equally gifted and you literally didn't know if it was 1963 or 2013 - it was just that good. The crowd was packed and wanted more but even with a encore Dick Dale was done. His merch booth had a line 4 wide and at least 50 deep for a full 2 1/2 hours afterwards.

Little Richard was scheduled to perform for 45 minutes but decided to give it his all , and performed for 1 1/2 hours! At 81 years of age he gave it his all. Was the sound similar to 1957? no, it was different and in my opinion very good. His back up band consists of 2 drummers, horns, lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, and more. When Little Richard got on stage things got off to a slower start but as time went he and the band got more and more in to. The crowd was never so packed in the history of the car show.

A final unbelievable experience that i'd like to share,
It is virtually impossible to get LITTLE RICHARD to autograph anything . Well, He met up with my persistence ! On the day before the performance I met Little Richards stage & sound manager . After explaining who I was and that in the 1980's I lived around the corner from Little Richards mother he was intrigued . I went on to explain that we lived in a H.O.A. , and that all the houses were tan with brown trim, except one. It was painted pink and it was Little Richards mothers home. On Saturday approx. 1 hour before the performance I was asked to come in to the VIP waiting lounge. I was escorted by a large entourage .Also, on both sides of the hallway were his own security dressed in three piece suits , sun glasses, and were no nonsense. The door opened up and in the back of the room sat Little Richard who motioned me to him with his hand out. He said "I understand you have information about my mother, my entire life". He shook my hand and didn't let go for almost 5 minutes. After telling him about my family living near his mother I then
asked if he would make an exception to his policy and sign my 1957 picture sleeve 45 on Specialty label. He did without any reluctance and I still can't believe it.

"To Alex , God cares Little Richard"

  15. HOLY SHIT! I know how much you love music....That's the Holy Grail right there. Wish I could have gone this year. I've missed seeing Dick Dale three times. Won't miss him next time I get a chance. That pic from the stage looks like ants. What a turnout.

Thanks Axle, we (Lonely Knights) had a great time. Car show was great, vendors were great and the music was incredible. I'm a huge surf music fan and Dick Dale was just awesome. He is still the king. Little Richard was just as good and at 81 years old, give him credit. Played for an hour and a half. And what a story about him signing your record. See ya next year!

  28. Thanks for offering such a great event. The crowd was great, car show entries were spot on. Didn't feel like I was being gouged ($$$) all weekend. I'll be back next year and hopefully bring a car to add to such a well executed event. Aces!

Dick Dale was KILLER. Did not stick around to see Richard cuz my good friends the Devils Daughters were playing inside at the ballroom. I still say VIVA is the best weekend of the year. You bet your a** I will be there next year......
