!939 plymouth oil truck

Nick Hardie in Holland MI. ( I hope I spelled his name right) Just finished lettering my 1939 Plymouth oil truck.

Truck has a 1956 Plymouth 270 Cu. Ploy. Eng. w/3x2 Stromberg carbs

I am trying to ad pictures of the truck.

 

Is it just the pic or does that truck have no grille??

 

no grille, radiator is behind the cab under the tank. All so truck has complete tilt front end.

The hole thing sits on a 1993 S15 frame w/350 TH trans. I built the tank using scrap sheet metal and scrap 1" sq. tubing.

 

Can't be a 39, wrong grill

 

No grille is always the wrong grille^^^^^^

 

With out a grill it looks like a plastic kids toy!(IMO)

 

are you saying its not a traditional hotrod and it does not belong on this forum??

 

I wanted to build something that people would look at and say ,what the hell or how did he do that?
Something different, not like the hundreds of cookie cutter cars and trucks out there.
So if you like it fine. If you don't, that's fine to.

By the way the motor on the left is in the oil truck.

I think it's really cool what you did. Especially how you made the tank. The truck would be amazing with a grill.

That thing is Done right! nice engine too, It does come off as not finished though without a grill...maybe a little billet or airbrushing. Tank is sweet too!

 

Try putting in a grill with painters tape and see if you like the look better. ( I know I would. )

If you like it, paint it on with silver perhaps. Or glass in a real surround and put in a real grill.

That engine is so right!

 

My thinking is a little bit of pin striping would kind of brake up the grill area. I have to show it to Nick Hardie, the pin stripper. He seems to know what looks just right.

When I park the truck people ask, how do you cool it with no radiator?
That's just what I wanted.

Looks to be a 1939 cab with 1937 front clip.

 

39 cab/36 front clip. Head lights have been moved

56 Dodge 270 cu. Poly.

Tank has doors in the back for storage.

 

I like it.
Goes to show a grill is what you cook burgers and hot dogs on...

This just shows you succeded in building what you wanted. Great job.
Besides a lot of old race cars had nothing but a few holes for a grille or a painted spiderweb.
All I'd change is the logo to something beerish!

But i still think it's a SHELL of a nice job.
