1953 chevy bagged small block

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by jordabennett, Mar 26, 2013.

  1. Hey guys, I'm building this for a guy, its a 1953 chevy 4 door original straight 6 column shift etc.
    Plans:
    aigbags
350 olds rocket small block with auto
    4link
    12 bolt rear end
    d-shaft tunnel
    c notches
    headers
    lay it low!

    Airbag kit had been purchased
    dual conv bags.

I'm planning on using the original frame and looking for some tips or pictures with using the front original suspension.
any tips tricks ideas or anything more would be greatly appreciated

You'd think if he can afford all that stuff he has planned for it, he could afford to find a '53 2 door to put it on :D

Ha. Quicker . I do like the customized stock front end. I done think I would be able to duplicate it though...

  13. Same here.. plus 4-doors are easier to toss your drunk friends into the back for the ride home after a show...

  14. he's a family man and the kids love the back seat. so a 4 door was right up his alley.

  15. got a little more done today.
    disconnected everything and began
pulling bumper, clip, motor and tranny.

going to be a snug fit for that olds

  21. got more done today including the drivers bag mount installed and cycled the bags, plumbed to test. exhaust pulled and rear end set up pulled after as many measurements i could get. stuck the tires in the wheel wells to get a good idea on stance. unfortunately i would have to get some drop spindles in order for the frame to lay as im about 2 1/2'' away. Heres some shots

Very nice touch on the access hole for the bags I was thinking of doing something similar on mine, although im past that point now....also the notch looks clean too good stuff man.

  26. sorry for the wait guys. heres alot more progress. i got the axel in lined up measured and tacked into place then began to make tabs and brackets to tack the 4 link in. cycled it a few times to make sure there was no binds and after more carful measurement i welded everything up. then started with the making a few round plats and using some cardboard i made some gussets here and there and got everything welded in. and it works great!! ill get a good video of the front and rear going up. the rear is not quite down with some addition welding and a cross bar for shock and more strength. getting some 2'' wheel spacers as well to fill the rear wheel well better. progress is coming along good.
