project has slowed alittle. but i did get exhaust on it.

 

here a side shot with the motor bay blacked out cause its not hamb friendly. this is the first time ive seen it out side in day light....on the way to get exhaust with a buddy steering

attatched the tailgate this weekend. up next is sand blasting. i have all the fenders and hood and running boards in primer ready for paint.

 

update: brakes are done and just got it fired up for the first time. most of the sheet metal is in primer and ready for paint.

thanks man. i cant wait to get it painted and put all the fenders and sheetmetal back on so i can see what it looks like. ive had this thing in so many stages that ive never really seen all of it together at once.

Looks great,I have been wanting one for a long time for a daily driver.You nailed it.Now I have to start looking a little harder.

 

yea I was looking for one too for a while but gave up cause I couldn't afford one. then I stumbled across this one in Elizabethtown NC on a grape farm and I offered him a trade for it. it was rough but I had more time then money so I took it on. I love it. came out better then I thought.

Wow it looked great when you got it, but perfectly straight gloss black paint... totally transforms it, well done looks perfect !

 

Until I saw this shot, I was wondering how you planned to mount the box over that Z'd frame, and still maintain fender /running board alignment. Nice job.

I had similar thoughts on a late model banger. Wish I had followed thru like you did. I am going the flathead-T5 route. Not as daily driver-friendly as your setup. Nice job!!

v8paul thanks man, I was hoping it wouldn't get bashed all to pieces on here since its not 100% traditional and im not as skilled as a lot of the guys on here, but im very pleased with how it turned out. it drives so damn good its crazy! and thanks about the paint. its a cheap driveway paint job but I wanted the black to keep the basic non over done look of these trucks that I love.

 

iowamercman, I wish I could say it was planned like that but reality is the fender/running board placement was just plain luck and just dealing with one issue at a time. the mastermind behind a lot of the frame was a buddy of mine kevin michaels who owns FourX fab. in Raleigh nc. we designed the whole deal on CAD in the computer and just maintained the stock wheel base and everything just came into place as far as sheet metal.
