Hey- what's the impact on the frame's strength of removing the k-member. Any? It would make my life a CRAPLOAD easier if I could pull it to fab a new transmission mount.

Not sure yet but i am thinking about welding some diagonal bars to the cross member so the entire xmember will be a bolt on make sense?

I was thinking of doing the same thing- I was going to basically 'diy' k-member in place of the one that's there. it would give me more room for my exhaust, and the transmission would be cinch. I'm literally thinking of welding up a 'K'. I dunno yet though.

Looks good though. Love the progress you're making.

I have been working on the heater system for this car.
I picked up a simple heater from eBay it was complete with a good heater core.
I disassembled the unit sand blasted the housing cleaned the core with CLR cleaner and soap tested with a hose no leaks looks new :) it's just something to keep me motivated on the project even if it was just a small job.

Oh man, life (as in feeding my family) keeps getting in the way. I only needed the fenders - but I'll just have to hammer on mine for now.

If you get an offer, just let 'er go. I'm so sorry.

I've got to say that your heater really cleaned up nice. That thing looks almost new. Where does it mount?

I have one of those heaters in my 53, its a 6V fan make sure you have a resistor for it. The project is looking great.

Hi Doc it mounts under the dash just like the deluxe heater except this is the economy heater, I wanted to get rid of the ugly box on the fender well.

Thanks i am aware of the 6volt i just need a resistor.

Movin on to the left rear quarter...When i bought this car i knew there were some issues with the left quarter cause the bondo was cracking and rusting beneath. I swear i grinded off a layer at least 1/4" thick!Who ever did the body work simply covered the dents with bondo eh oh well, don't look to bad now couple of patches and work some of the dents out i should be good to go then i will attempt bodywork.
