Projects Martin Ford´32 5 Window Build

Tomas also help me with the trunk and rear quarter alignment, The left side felt a little twisted in the beginning but after some measurement we found oit that the left rear corner had been replaced and it is 3/8 to short. We removed the panel below the trunk lid and mounted it as it is supposed to be.
Next thing is to work on the corner .

 

The material below the rounded beed is it short.

 

Did this little model for a reg-sign holder yesterday.

Someone not that smart in the past cut out the edge with holes that is used for attach the roof wood.
I made a new edge and once again, weld/grind.

Done with the top of the grille/shell today.

 

Now it flows with the hood-line

 

Also trying to get the trunk drain to work properly. As I understand the side trunk rain gussets are open in the bottom and the water goes strait on the trunk floor.

I welded in a drain pipe in the back drain and adjusting the sides so the water from the side drains goes in to the back drain and then out thru the pipes.

 

Good idea on that trough reconfiguration. I'll have to do that on my roadster some day.

I must be missing a trick on finishing the welds. Any chance you can go into some detail on how you are doing this?

When you added your drain in the trough, did this change the alignment of the decklid?

 

Just goon throu the build thread, love the fabrication work you do, keep the great work up...

 

Im not really sure I do it any differntly then anybody else, I start with the angle grinder and use a thick cut wheel just to get the top off on the welds and it makes less heat then starting with a sand disc . When there is little left of the weld I change to a sand flap disc to get it smooth. After that I change machine to a low rpm sanding unit. The same as car painters use and start with 80 grid and change to finer grit.
I think the only trick is to take it slow and be patient , in the end its all about having the feeling.
I,ll post some pics of the tools tomorrow
