Here is ours...bought last Sept. off CL. It's a 1962 Mobil Scout. Still
working on it but we fixed it up some, got new tires & propane parts
and made it to Yellostone in early Oct. What a blast. Hope the pics work.

For any of you old enough to remember "Elm Motors" on Queens Blvd. in Elmhurst Queens NY in the early 60's they had THIS car and trailer on their lot around 1964 for sale. I was in the trailer and it was the coolest thing I had ever seen. You could sit in what was a cockpit over the gooseneck and look out while a chauffer was driving and speak to him on some sort of intercom.

Any plans to make the trailer match the truck?

Been looking for an old camper to fix up and take to shows and stuff and today i saw an old shasta i believe with the wings. its in ruff shape painted camo and i can see its filled with trash my question is what should i offer? Its been sitting a long time by the looks of it so i consider it prolly a shell. im going to go ask about it after work i just dont want to overpay.

You can buy somewhat intact, restorable project ones for $500-$600 pretty commonly, so I wouldn't pay much for a really rough project one. But, the fins are actually valuable (they can be unbolted) as are the big "Shasta" emblems and if it has a title card, that's good too. If it has all of that stuff, you should be able to safely pay a couple hundred for it, and then even if you end up finding a better example, you can reuse those pieces or sell them and come out OK.

If it's really that rough, I doubt you'd be insulting anyone to offer them $100 for it, and you can always come up from there. Sometimes the camo'd out ones end up being Grandpa's cream-puff that got inherited and turned into a hunting shack by an ignorant redneck son, so you might have a good score under that ugly paint, good luck!

I found this little winged Shasta for sale and jumped on it quick because it had a bathroom/shower and you don't see many of these little trailers with them.

Finding a clean bathroom on the road isn't always easy, and some campgrounds only have construction type porta johns (Yuck).

But before I could do anything with it we ended up with a vacation home and no longer needed it.

So, it's for sale. $1000. It needs a little cleaning up. It looks like the previous owner put putty on the roof. He said the fridge was new and the A/C worked but I've never used the camper or even tested anything.

Great job with the truck, but you blew it with the new 5th wheel. It would be legit towing a big Spartan or Westcraft. Friends don't let friends camp in big white boxes.

I've been toying with the idea of a air-stream fifth wheel project. The big white box was the wife's idea.....sometimes you have to let them win so they don't start taking away your toys.....

  20. Anyone have a source for newly made old style windows? The modern windows blow the whole look.
