hey you local pomona guys . how is the swap, im debating on going but everyone ive talked to says its not good like it used to be . my question is it really worh a 500 mile drive
No way it's worth the 500 mile drive. I am not even sure it's worth the 3 miles I'd have to drive........ but I do on occasion... JMO It has regressed into a big tool swap with very few good parts... The Big LA Roadsters Show on fathers day weekend is the best by far in Pomona and worth a drive if you've got the time....
I don't care for it anymore. The cost to park and get in and then having to navigate your way around the crowd makes it hard to look for parts. Long Beach is the way to go and then take a hop over to Joe's Jost for a cold one and some pickled eggs.
I've been there about three times; which is usually when I'm in the area for something else. Like most swap meets, who knows what will be there. It is a big event though. I've found some interesting stuff and I'll go again, when I'm in the area.
Pamona swap meet is definitely not what it used to be. That's the bad news. The good news is that the swap meet the LA Roadsters put on at Pamona on fathers day is worth it! To boot, you get all the manufacturers showing all their new stuff and a few roadsters to boot. Best show, hands down. If you can time it, you wont be disappointed.
I don't go near as often as i use to go. But when i do, i usually find what i am looking for. I like to walk the cars for sale.
I wouldn't drive 500 miles for it unless it was part of a larger trip. I used to go with friends over on Saturday night and come back on Sunday night 700 mile round trip, never disappointed. Been going for 10 years plus. But the last few years it hasn't been worth the effort. Less sellers, more of a crowd in the way, too much stuff that isn't car parts. Still a good swap meet if you are close. Thanks for the tip jcmarz on Joe Jost's.
I'd pass on Pomona and wait until April and go to the one in Sacto. Been to both and I'll drive the 400 miles to Sacto before I'll drive the 45 miles to Pomona. IMO.
Pamona this Sunday (June 2)? I need to get this from LA to SF so I may go down, unless someone wants to make a quick Benjamin.
Pomona is cool... bought my fair share of parts and tools there. Last time I went I bought a welding table! I don't go in the summer months; too damn hot! Budweiser and direct sunlight don't mix.
Where's this "Pamona" you speak of? I've been to the POMONA Swap but not for years. Too many rows & rows of HF new shit tools for my taste. Then there's the rows of die cast & import crap that's not even car related. After saying all that..................... I am going this Sunday to be w/ some buddies. Plus- I need a set of bucket seats for my new ride.
