The debate over running filters is really dependant on where you live. Texas is dusty...run good filters. SOHC motors are ridiculously expensive....do whatever you can to save that motor.

I dont know what the airflow requirements of your engine are going to be, but small stromberg style filters may work.

Here's the setup I'm using on a vintage pavement modified I'm building. These filters have a high coolness factor (my opinion) sticking up through the hood of a '37 Chevy coupe. I have way too much money and see too many unpaved pit areas to have my engine sucking dirt.

I had a similar dilemma with a slightly ot car I recently built. I love the pipe organ look, but the potential damage wasn't an option for me either. this was my solution, and it hit the middle ground for me between form and function.
    your milage may vary…

Okay, at the risk of repeating myself, this is why I pledge my undying loyalty to the H.A.M.B. I knew you guys would come up with some ideas to stir the pot in my imagination. This is really cool, love the look. The problem is, I'm going to owe so many guys a joy ride in the truck when its finished... Keep the ideas and input coming. Maybe I need to incentivize you...case of beer to the winning solution?

My Bills B Racing filters are on order.

They have a new web site.

    http://www.bbrfilters.com/

Customer service: I wrote them an email that I was interested. Received a quick reply back. Then a phone call from them the next day. Doesn't get better than that.

More to follow once they arrive.

    Hi Jim
    Awesome Ride!!

    Meaningfull Filtration...?
Nope they're just fine screens. (Keeps out Birds, Junebugs & Panheads etc.)
They are made / Speedway sells them for Strombergs.

    Ugly:
I sure beats those ugly K&N dirt track filters (Have'em in a box...I'll put them on if i go dirt tracking one day.)

The BBR filter (not sure if they're meaningfull or just finer screens) don't fit D-shape bells and they're kinda uggly too!

    Worried?
I'm more worried about people trowing something in there when parked.
Had to stop once for a sand storm on the North Shore.
But Hey! It looks COOL! & I'm driving the crap out of it! (Motor's going in my 29 soon)

    Aloha Tommy
